Hi there, my D3 v8 has just developed an intermitant misfire, it is converted to LPG (prinns system) and when its switched to LPG it runs as it should no sign of a misfire ! But switch back to petrol and back comes the misfire. Although not every time! I have just changed all the sparkplugs, and put some injector cleaner in the fuel tank, the fault codes are saying mifire on3 and 7, and multiple misfires detected. I am using a Foxwell Nt 420. When on idle and misfiring on petrol there is no fuel/rich fumes from the exhaust.
Anyone got any ideas?

I don't wish to spread worry and doom, when I started searching for my first D3 earlier this year, I wanted a V3 LPG. However after much reading from this forum and elsewhere, I came to the general conclusion that LPG does not work long term in a D3 V8 as the valve seats are too soft and erode prematurely. So I bought a TDV6 instead.
Of course this is not impossible to get around, and your problem could be a simple electrical problem or similar, but a valve clearance check may be worth looking at once you have run out of other ideas!

Sorry but I can't help with the misfire but I can say that my V8 has done around 80k with LPG however it was fitted with a valve lube system when installed - most installers will tell you that the lube system is not required however if anybody is considering a conversion I would include one

Try running engine bonnet open in an unlit place...in the dark !
You have to remove all that obscures the plug leads...
You may just see the leakage
If the V8 runs on coli packs you can't do this....
Just a suggestion[/b] BREXIT - done properly.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to the forum! Latest update cleaned the MAF and cleaned the throttle body, (although I am going to do again as I ran out of cleaner before finishing) at present I'm half way through the tank of fuel with the injection cleaner. And although the problem hasn't gone, it's a lot less frequent! So hoping that I'm on the right track!

Miss fire solved!
It was one of the emulaters on the gas side, not always switching the petrol injector on one cylinder !
Happy days!

well you where right soft valve seats and it wrecked the guides too so had heads work done with hardened valve seats and custom made guides as these don't come as a spare part or its £2000 a head from LR total cost inc strip and rebuild £4500. happy days lol
