D3 alternator replacement |
|
Hi good morning,
I brought a alternator and want to replace it, and I search many videos before, When I try to install it today, just noticed some hoses on the left side of alternator that was block the way to loose two bolts and power connector (the videos have no this hoses). I still need to work on top or under? Any options would be great. Thanks a lot.

Is it a Denso alternator, if not you would be well advised to get a hold of one, the D3 doesn't seem to like any other makes

You remove it from above takes about 20 minutes once you have the viscous fan off.
It looks difficult but is very easy, the battery lead and two bottom bolts are best done with a ratchet spanner and i always found they unscrew with your fingers once they you loosen them. The small plug can be removed by pulling the alternator forward once the bolts are undone. Andrew

Hi, the work was done this evening, as your advise brought a 13mm ratchet spanner made it easier. But now only thing I worry about is the fan not tighten enough. Thanks a lot

The fan is self tightening (lefthand thread) a lot of people over tighten them making it difficult to get off next time.
Just needs to be tightened a reasonable amount.
I saw those alternators on ebay when i needed one, i think they have been rebuilt. Hopefully it will give you many years if good service, just look out for flickering displays and strange random faults such as suspension warnings and hdc faults these have been reported when a non genuine alternator has been fitted.
