If your engine is EU2 then it is straight forward. If if it's EU4 then it needs a modification since the thermostats are there.
I've made a plan for mine to by pass the coolers and manufacture a piece of aluminum pipe in between that will hold the thermostat.
Haven't tried it but it's a future plan.
When you look on your engine from front there is a pipe on the LHS that comes from below to a T piece. Gives the RHS EGR and then on the metal pipe over the engine. From the LHS egr a pipe goes front of engine to meet in parallel the pipe I described above. So theoretically you can join these two pipes but it need to have in between a modification for the thermostat.
That's my plan in theory, if it flies we will see!!!!!

Ready with changing the EGR cooler. It was a pain.
The f.... cooler has a fastening point at his rear end, which was inaccurate and did not match with the block. So i had to shape it in situ with a flexible hose drill. That screw was pain also at this point.
The cooling hose at the bottom of the cooler was not easy as well. However, done.
Mine is 10 years old, altough I know this car so well as I do every service myself, I am stuffed with it.
Maybe heading for the Velar.
