I remember that thread being a more of a "how to". Strange how my old age seems to play tricks on me.
Maybe if you came over Robbie you could show me on mine, the paints ordered so wouldn't cost you a thing. I'm sure by the time the fifth ones ready to be done, I'll understand.FFRR 2017 4.4SDV8 Autobiography. Cost so much I must be mad!

IMO a proper Land Rover shouldn't have painted calipers [unless black/grey/silver], nor should it have visible tailpipes!

That's what I said but I was dragged into the paint buying, they made me do it!
Now I'm awaiting Ferrari red to be delivered.
I tried to resist but the pull of the bling was just too much to resist.
Mines actually used as a tow car/limo/removal van/people carrier so being able in the rough stuff is just a bonus.FFRR 2017 4.4SDV8 Autobiography. Cost so much I must be mad!

Who needs Brembos anyway? It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

For fecks sake, you will be customising the tow bar next. I grew out of all this when I reached 19. I had a Hillman super Imp (showing my age) and I did all sorts of things to it. I had extra switches which didn't connect to anything. Extra lights, electric radio aerial (remember these?). The final straw was when I fitted some air horns. When I pressed the horn the voltage went so low, it sounded like a sick fog horn winding up. Even worse at night when all the lights would go dim.
It's like today's boy racers scooting around in there little cars with big noisy exhausts.

I don't have a big exhaust!
I had a 1954 Ford Popular with an Essex V6 bored to 3.1ltr and a hi rise intake with triple IDA webers, tuned headers into Cherry bombs which sounded amazing.
It was roof chopped by 4" and sectioned through the whole length of the body another 4". The body was then channelled over the "Street rod engineering" chassis. It had a chromed shortened Jag rear axle and chromed Vitesse front. 3.5"Centrelines on the front and 10x15's American racing Mag's on the back. It ran low 13's on the strip and some nicked it before it got into proper paint.
I also like to tinker with my Disco, sort of what makes it mine.FFRR 2017 4.4SDV8 Autobiography. Cost so much I must be mad!

for those that have done the painting (of whatever colour floats your boat), did you strip the brakes down before cleaning & painting or do it all in situ (pads still in, etc), Did you clean the parts dry (scotchbite/dremmel and wire brush) or did you use Brake cleaner?
I really wish I had done mine when it was new, as the capliers look really crap now, being a mix of silvery/rusty colours.
