No real difference LR3 - D3, just the guys across the pond(s), East or West, drive on the wrong side and you have to make allowances when discussing repairs e.g. when you mean passenger side, you have translate to drivers side and visa versa or they get confused (though somethings remain the same no matter where the driver sits, like the steering wheel for example )
An other good reason for having a V8 is, if it is on LPG you get almost the same milage, but at half the price. I'm paying 59.9p/l for my LPG. 8)

I know, it's cheaper in many places in England, Scotland and Wales, but here in N. Ireland they rip us off

Pure petrol only!
Around town about 8 to 10mpg. Extra urban about 15 to 20mpg. On a run 20 to 26mpg. All on the computer (I'm not checking brim to brim)
Will put the auxiliary belt back on the schedule of things to do ...

I have not checked my MPG, generally I don't care.
When its empty I fill it up, and then drive off with a smile on my face.05 V8 HSE Bonatti Grey

Yep agree. On the fuel front, for the size of the vehicle, engine, I think its impressive.
The only downside is its so quiet and smooth. Pull up to the lights and you think the vehicle has stopped so you glance down at the rev counter just to make sure it hasn't.

Not necessarily right Mogwyth. If a vehicle which left the factory with Cats turns up for the MOT test without them, it can be failed. I would certainly have mine off if I thought it would get through.

True but as they are intact and covered by the underbelly protection, its near impossible for them to know, mines been through two tests at different stations without any problems.==================================

For the size of the engine the V8 ain't quick on the LR3. The LR4 has a 5L or had until recently. Neither are anywhere near as quick as the later D4s with the 8 speed box and twin turbos STDV6 or whatever it's called. The D4 HSE is my fav of the lot and I've had everything of every trim they've made since my 07XS with the 2.7.
The LR3 V8 does drink fuel around town. On long runs it's lovely, though. If you stick it in sport and hold the revs higher it's a far better drive. It's also easier to maintain than the diesels.
On balance, I like it. But I'd have my UK MY14 HSE over it any day of the week. (If US diesel wasn't so ). 'Gas' here is about 50p a liter by comparison compared to the UK. It's not a bargain and by the looks of the market today we should standby for a considerable price hike everywhere tomorrow!PAGODA
