It's a real bonus being able to access the balance on the sim, I have a Orange PAYGo sim in my GSM gate opener that I transferred from the Webasto 1533 timer when it packed up, this is active while ever it is in credit and at least one call every 60 days, no fixed monthly payment like they seem to be now, but checking the balance means dismantling it to take it out and puting it in a spare mobile phone to top it up.
I'm starting to get hooked on one of these, but the weather isn't helping sales It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Lol, I've been getting through loads of these units, another two to install tomorrow and another batch delivered last week, so looks like there's enough people planning ahead for the cold weather.
It's just so much quicker to wam up the car once the FBH has been pre warming the engine. I love it! Bodsys Brake Bible

My first day of proper use today and I love it too!
Hop in, turn the heaters on and hot air is ready and waiting for you!
On a side note........I'm super impressed with the velcro type stuff that comes with the kit, it's not coming loose anytime soon!!

Hi are the BAS controllers still available? Are they the same price as the option 2?

The BAS ones are out of stock at the moment, I've supplied and fitted many of them and continue to do so when I can as many people prefer the remote without the SIM. £226 for that one.Bodsys Brake Bible

Can you have all of the altox gubbins under the bonnet rather than removing interior panels as the guide shows?
Or does it need to be weather proofed?

It's not recommended to keep under the bonnet as it's not a sealed unit, so dust and/or water risk if you go off road.
Mines under the bonnet at the moment. You could easily put it in a small plastic sealed box with a grommet. It doesn't have high power requirements. Bodsys Brake Bible

Ok, so I installed Altox & LionParts fan/flaps controller.
It was quite a fight as I have LH manual D3, so getting the control wire inside was not easy.
Also, I had some trouble with LionParts as I did not have switched +12V connector on climate control.
But eventually done.
After initial testing, the outcome is mixed.
With clean conditions, Webasto runs, fans blow, cabin is heated.
But I'm not sure that the AUX OUT works as expected (temperature delayed start).
I have to test it again, coolant is too warm now.
But most important, my initial testing indicates that Altox suffers from "door open" CAN-bus issue.
- If "stop on error" is configured, Webasto stops when door opened (as old Webasto timers did), error 0C.
- If "stop on error" is disabled, behavior appears to be much worse - internet app says "heater off" but "flame yes" and webasto keeps running "forever".
I'll do some more tests tomorrow.

Does that mean I have to buy additional equipment to set my fbh to come on in the morning or is there a way of doing it without buying parts?Discovery 3 HSE 2007
