In the process of doing the conversion myself. Just need to pick up a bumper. IMO it doesn’t look right if you don’t change the bumper. Fitted the mirrors the other day and need to fit the bonnet badge. Also fitted the rear lights too. The front lights need activating on iid or suchlike. They’re not just plug and play.
I didn’t do it for the reason of increasing the value of the car, but do you reckon it adds value to the car?

Nooo! Don’t fit the bonnet badge. It looks much better as “LAND ROVER”. Apart from the anomaly of the last two years and then only in local markets, it’s an indicator that it’s a proper Discovery 8)
It was a pain having to remove “DISCOVERY” from the front of both of my new D4’s and put “LAND ROVER” back. I traded one of them back to a main dealer and even they preferred it and specifically asked me NOT to change it back before trade in 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

The biggest let down for me is the poor lighting on full beam. The D3 we had with xenons and halogen combo were far superior. Anyone thinking of doing this upgrade for the sake of vanity then keep your lights as standard. If there is any way to have extra driving lamps without spoiling the front end look I'd be interested to see.
Even my transit has a secondary main beam, drl's, directional lamps and indicators within the lamp.

So I’m not the only one to colour key the edges of the facelift grille (did it on the Firenze Red and Aintree Green ones). The infill is now crying out to be painted too
Really don’t like the stick on black squares around the fog lights, especially as I’d have colour keyed the early (to get rid of the pointless black square) if they’d been an easy way of doing it.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

I will never (never say never) upgrade the snout of the record for the simple reason that the headlights of the MY2014-on are worse than those MY2010-2013 ......Discovery 5 tdv6 HSE Corris Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition

D3 and MY2010-2013 D4 has better high beam because they has Bi-xenon (dipped and high) plus the H7 bulb high beam:
MY2010-2013: Dipped: main xenon D3S (partial beam by pattern shutter)
High: main xenon D3S (full beam, shutter open) + H7 55W
MY2014-2017: Dipped: main xenon D3S (partial beam by pattern shutter)
High: main xenon D3S (full beam, shutter open)
One step forward (on MY2010-2013) is swap the H7 bulbs with good (and pricey) LED H7...
MY2011 D4 to the new PowerfulUK grill (but I used the hybrid PowerfulUK grill)

The problem is that the H7 high beam is not aimed straight forward and on my car they light up the tree tops. I have yet to see a possibility to adjust them as it was on the D3. With the 4.5 headlamps this i a no-problem.

Just found this thread and I’m just about to embark on some facelift options mixing old and new, will post pics and wait for feedback but i’m pretty sure it’s all going to look great, even if just in my eyes

Re: D4 to D4.5 Facelift questions
Hi, did you just spray your front toe eye cover silver or is it a replacement, thinking of doing it myself, did you also do the rear one?
Thanks
Scott

On a bit of a journey to 2014 facelift my 2013 D4
In order to fit the 2014> grille and lights, does the front bumper NEED replacing?
Everything I've read suggests it does but wondered if anyone had gone bold and tried to change just the lights and grille without the bumper?
All the D4 to D4.5 facelift ‘packages’ I’ve seen include the front bumper but if this isn't really necessary would make the job a lot quicker and DIY'able.
Appreciate the silver fog lights surrounds and tow eye cover on the front bumper are an improvement over pre-facelift, however I’ve already had a stab at doing the surrounds and tow eye cover myself, which I don’t think looks too shabby (but am prepared for negative feedback!) and changed the bonnet lettering. This will also be updated to the silver landmark lettering once I can get round to it.
All of the aesthetic improvement at the front is in the grille and the lights (in my opinion anyway) and if these can be changed without the bumper being done, happy days.
Back looks much improved with black facelift lights, black LR badge
No plans to change the mirrors as we tow a horse trailer several times a week and the Transit-sized mirrors come in very handy for this.
Body colouring the door handles Santorini Black would be nice, but with the sensor buttons in - I don’t imagine colour coding these to be a simple/quick/cheap job.
Any experiences welcomed
