Saw the D5 today, same one as above, my first impression is I was expecting it to look bigger, it was long but looked very low granted it was in access height. The interior looked cramped due to the black headlining but 2nd row was spacious but I felt the seats were a bit low but not uncomfortable and getting into the 3rd row isn't as easy as the current car.

The loadspace and that flap, actually wasn't as bad as I was expecting, it felt sturdier than it looked and lowered quicker than I was expecting. Again the loadspace looked smaller not helped by the black headlining but seemed reasonable and would suit most owners. The electric seat fold is just a gimmick, very slow but the loadspace is flat.

Sitting behind the wheel you get a good view of the road ahead and can see the bonnet as per the current car and driving position was comfy. The new incontrol pro system was pretty good and crystal clear, it was very easy to swipe through menus only requiring a faint touch.

It was difficult to get in and play with every thing, but overall though I like it, when I first saw it sitting in the show room I wasn't too sure but the more I played around with it the more I liked it. Yes it's lost some of its charm and character, no it won't suit everybody but at the moment though I'm happy to continue with my order. January will be the first chance to test drive it, if I'm happy after that then I should get it before April.

Not the best review but it's the basics Thumbs Up

Thanks for your review. Pleased to hear the seats fold flat and that it was a positive experience overall. With the flap up is it easy to reach things just behind it or do you have to reach up and over with ape-like arms?

Also how easy is it to reach the infotainment? I seem to recall in the DS it is quite a stretch.

Could someone please take a tape measure and measure the loading height in its lowest setting?

Stretching into the boot over the flap wasn't too bad just a slight stretch. I didn't play around with all the seat settings but from the position it was in everything on the dash was easy to reach.

RM- a couple of guys were playing around with the suspension lowering, it looked lower than the D4 in access height.

Without a separate chassis to sit on top of, it really out to be lower; I'd be interested to know by how much though?

While it's nothing new (my old C5 estate had the same thing back in 2002), the ability to change the loading height, from a switch inside the tailgate, can be darn useful.

Unfortunately the Disco 5 should have been a lot of things, which it is NOT ! I'm not really sure what happened at the all the design meetings that LR had, I guess we are back to the fact that it was BMW which effectively designed the Disco3/4, Deutschland uber alles

Surely it was FORD that did the D3?

That's what I thought - the original D2 replacement was binned and they started again - though I don't kno whether that original D3 was a Austin Rover design or a BMW one

Ford, definitely Ford - hence the engines from Bridgend and Dagenham.

Saw one at the Lewis showroom today... second one I have seen. I really do like it. There are a couple of interesting things though... the roof does "feel" as if it is lower, but in actual fact isn't! I sat in a D4 with the seat at lowest height and measured from my head to the roof and did the same on the D5... there was 2 mm in it! Not sure if it was the black headlining.

Also, there definitely is a touch more legroom than the D4... my daughter and I tester both and with the drivers seat in the position I would use for each, there was a couple of centimetres more in the D5... it is cavernous!

The infotainment is light years ahead.

Oh, and I think I heard 5 other people say how the Range Rover and sport interiors felt... not as luxurious or modern.

Overall, great car which I think looks great in the flesh.

Deposit down! Let's hope it lasts longer than the last one!

Sorry, is the D5 interior 2mm lower or higher than the D4?

Black headlining definitely made it feel more claustrophobic than it actually is.

Definitely a No.1 all over. Laughing

I only just fit comfortably into the D4, I need the sunroof, as it gives a fraction more headroom. 2mm less headroom would make a massive difference.
