Alive tuning Remap
Seriously interested in remapping my MY15 Discovery. Very impressed with Alive tunings figures.
It would appear that the 3.0 SDV6 and 8 speed box respond very well to a remap.
Any other recommendations? I looked at BAS but their figures are a bit lower than Alive.
Would love to hear from anyone that has done the alive remap on this model.

Don't forget that Pete Bell @ BAS will discuss the remap which you require, and can (within reason),
give you a different torque curve, BHP etc.. it's worth ringing him to discuss.
Disco_Mikey recommends Alive, and it might be worth talking to him particularly as you are in his neck of the woods.

I'm taking my D3 down to Alive HQ for a remap (and Gary wants his gearbox flushed at the same time) mid-July My D3 Build Thread

Disco_Mikey did my timed climate, so that was another reason for swaying towards Alive.

They are both site sponsors who produce and refine their own maps from scratch; neither of them do this work on the cheap or trust to copying someone else's work. I would only trust JE, BAS or Alive to do this kind of remap.
There are lots of happy BAS customers on the site but the only remapped 8-speed I have driven was tuned by Alive. It was mightily impressive in all regards and the 8-speed box positively sparkled with the new map and probably gave the box a better opportunity to show how quickly this gearbox can rapidly deliver torque when compared to the old 6-speed. It was simply tremendous and I walked away thinking that it just could not be improved on (well, in an ideal world it would be a direct OBD modification but there you go).

I might book it into you, Mike. Just need to hide a remap fund from SWMBO.
Should I worry about warranty issues?

A remap will invalidate your driveline warranty.
However, the 3.0 engine and 8 speed boxes have a relatively low failure rate.
The other option, is to have another ECU programmed to your car, have that mapped, and for any warranty issues, they can be swapped round before it goes back to the dealer My D3 Build Thread

Thanks for the feedback Robbie, sounds as if you were impressed.
Mike, a second ECU sounds expensive.
Is the remap just a software mod or does the ECU need to be modified too?

As of just now, the ECU still needs to be opened up on the benchMy D3 Build Thread
You should certainly consider them. Warranty Direct, with whom I now have my warranty did not seek an increase in payment to them.
You must of course also tell your insurers who will probably want an increase in premium. Mine were very reasonable...

I had mine done by DMS Automotove (the only company as of late to have even cracked and mapped the F10 M5 too). Literally transformed the car. 305bhp and 740nm. It will quite happy out accelerate in gear my friends A5 2l TDI Quattro. Fuel economy has marginally improved too i've noticed.
