Dismountable winch
My previous D4 had a hidden winch using a tray and 9.5 winch from Goodwinch and when it was needed it was spot on It was a great confidence booster to know that the winch was always available but in truth it was used very few times and after seven years of road crud the winch was not suitable to mount on the new D4 so I let it go with the old one.
So I am looking at different solution this time, possibly a dismountable winch, which would have the advantage of being usable on the front or rear and which, in seven years time, might still be good as new
This would need a winch on a cradle with a mounting mechanism capable of attaching to the rear and front of the car. I see Tow Trust has a fixed towbar with detachable accessories and if they have a front mounting I'm sure a suitable winch tray fixing could be manufactured. What do you think?
At this stage of the D3/D4's life everything that can be done with it has probably been tried already so I've searched this forum and not finding a solution is probably the fault of my search rather than it not being there.
