My IID says

fuel rail pressure sensor N/A

No faultcode.

Is something wrong anyway?

I thought the High pressure fuel sensor was part of the HPF pump and cannot be changed (if faulty) on its own, it comes as part of the pump.

Is the fuel rail pressure sensor the same as the high pressure fuel sensor?

But still the question is the N/A messagege on IID

I think the fuel rail pressure sensor is only present on one fuel rail (the LHS I think) and it's NA on m IID too - is that what you were asking?

I have googled and have found that it is possible to buy a fuel rail pressure sensor for D3 TDV6.
Do I have one that is faulty in my car or is it as you say not installed by the factory.

Have tried to find if faulty where it is placed and if it i possible to change by myself. No answer.

This is very mystical and I cannot understand that there is no answer on this forum.

Sorry, you don't say what your problem is apart from the fact that the IID records NA against the fuel rail pressure sensor? For whatever reason I think it's normal for nothing to be recorded against this sensor. Do you have an issue with the car?

My problem is high fuel consumption. And limp mode.

I had error codes p2290 and p0087 with limpmode. Changed the brakeswitch and the faultcodes disappeared.
But instead I get p0101 and limpmode. Sometimes without faultcode.

very annoying.

I really wonder if the MAF sensor is faulty as p0101 indicates. Or if it is a can bus fault.

That is why I am concerned about the the fuel pressure sensor not giving any readings to my IID.
And the high fuel consumption.

Several years ago I cured 2290 and 087 with a new brakeswitch. Recently they have taken a new LPFP and new HPFP to cure it. You could b e lucky and get away with a new brakeswitch this time? I've never seen p0101, what's the description from the tool?

IC hose had a crack. Temporary repair cures all fault codes. Ordered a new silicone hose set.

Still I want an explanation why ODII shows Fuel rail pressure sensor as N/A.
The sensor is there. I can see it. Cannot get the contact off without dismantling things.
Is the sensor faulty?
Is there a way to measure something at the ECU?

Have too high fuel consumption, 18 mpg.

Any ideas what can be wrong.

Why don't you PM PatGAPInnov who built the IIDTool? He's very responsive to messages or post in the GAP DIagnostic forum?

Spooky I was just coming to see what people said about the n/a reading on that sensor...

For background I solved (so far so good) p2290 and p0087 and p0191 and p117d with:

1. New intercooler hoses;
2. New brake switch;
3. New tail/brake bulbs;
4. New filters all round;
5. Cleaned MAP sensor;
6. New battery;
7. New High Pressure Fuel Pump.

As well as epic amounts of diagnostic work and voodoo plus checking and pulling/replacing certain critical fuses and generally having a poke around to make sure nothing was wet/shorting/melting/missing.

If you need a new HPFP (a VDO original part brand new in the box) for a very reasonable price please contact Carwood in the UK who shipped a pump to Switzerland for me at a third of the dealer quote and gave absolutely top service.

My IID also shows n/a on the fuel rail pressure sensor which I believe is NOT the same as the sensor on the HPFP, same with old and new pumps.

The fuel rails from vague memory of researching my fault codes are also one unit with the sensor built in...hoping not to have to change them too.

Interesting to see where this thread goes!

Interesting.

I have seen the fuel rail pressure sensor. It is on the left side of the engine. On the front of something that looks like a distributor for the fuel. A long thing with four tubes going from it.

Look at this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-7-TDV6-LAND-RO...1763018130

What was the price of the hpfp from carwoods. Can fid their webpage but no info about their products and prices. And thet they are sellin directly to customers.

Repaired the IC hose with duct tape and more. Seems to hold tight until the ne hose arrives.

But despite this I got P0087 once again. I thought it had disappeared after changing the brakeswitch.

Have not changed the rear bulbs yet.

All these irrational fault codes and limp modes get me to the point where I have to change the car. But I like it so much.

I will mail GAP and ask if they know about the non existing fuel rail pressure sensor.

HPFP came in at under £500 shipped, so very pleased. Carwood have a contract with LR for supply of aftermarket replacement pumps so should be solid. I can PM you the name of the chap who helped me if you need one.

You should test your LP pump first, to make sure it's not shot. Robbie has done an epic guide to the low pressure fuel system and doing this easily yourself here.

Let me know what GAP says please!
