How can V6 only have 18bhp more than 2.0 ingenium Shocked

Oh, that would so unusual for LR to embelish the facts about performance, mpg, the list is endless. The only thing that I find surprising is people's ability to swallow it hook, line and sinker again and again.

That's because outright maximum horsepower and even outright maximum torque figures are only two simplified ways of measuring an engine's power characteristics. Whilst I'm sure that it would be possible to re-tune the Ingenium to match, or even beat, both the peak torque and BHP figures of the V6, it would probably make for very poor power delivery characteristics. As it is, driving the the 2.0 litre Ingenium engine in an Jaguar XE, it feels very much like a petrol engine already (and not in a good way).

To make any meaningful comparisons, they would need to publish dynometer charts, plotting both BHP and torque curves against engine speed. But they don't, not as far as I can see Sad

The 240 will at least be better than the awful 180 I had in my Evoque loan car, it just felt gutless and not any smoother than the 190 SD4 (PSA) engine in my DS.

The F-Pace has the activity key, useful apparently but not worth the £315 option price IMO. Question is will this new Disco still have the same old pebble key that's been around for years?

So if the 2.0 does 0-62 in 8.3 secs why bother with the V6 8.1 secs and expense Confused

SE 2.0 and 3.0 based on my build is £1500 difference, on a PCP deal the 3.0 is £6380 more on the GMFV.

Plus the V6 sounds better.

Why should the 240 feel any better? 240 BHP could be achieved with exactly the same torque characteristics as the 180 (ie gutless bottom end), simply by raising the rev limiter and multiplying what ever torque remains at higher revs by a higher rpm.

With the greatest of respect, maximum BHP figures alone are absolutely meaningless.

Because, like BHP figures alone, 0-62 figures tell you very little about the overall way that an engine drives. Unless all that you do is accelerate from 0-62 perpetually, then you'll probably want to know how well it pulls with a trailer, whether you need lots of gear shifting to keep the engine "on the boil" or how well it overtakes without the need to wake all your passengers up as the engine screams its undersized heart out.

240, 500Nm at 1500rpm

It should be a bit more punchy, but if you take into account the extra weight, maybe not.

That's a start, but it's still only at one engine speed and tells us little of what the engine's like. I've found a torque curve for the SDV6, but won't put it up unless I can find the corresponding one for the Ingenium.
