Suspension fault code only whilst cornering
Hi All,
I've had this a couple of times now but not all the time.
Basically - turning into a mini roundabout perhaps a little faster than normal (so turning right) - sounds as if there is a "abs" noise (possibly left rear brake operating) and the power gets killed for a split second. This is not going too fast, just a little quicker than normal. I can understand the DSC cutting in but there is also a fault code logged-
Read the fault code and its;
code:U0132 lost communication with ride level ctrl module / lost communication with suspension ctrl module A
No other fault code, just this one and i have full ride height control so no other issues as far as i can tell.
The 2 times its happened have only been on tight right hand turns and only for a second then everything goes back to normal. No lights on the dash at all and it doesn't happen every time (or perhaps the front nearside needs to dive a certain amount).
I've done a search and this seems different in so far as its only when turning right.
Could it be the connectors/wiring in the nearside wing or something else? I'm thinking possibly something linked to the front nearside suspension being near full compression.
The only other thing is the front left seems a bit lower than the front right and overnight it also drops a bit more than the others (only about 1 to 1.5cm's). All corners are a bit un-level (few cm's out) and the rear is a bit higher than the front.
Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Try recalibration the suspension and steering angle sensor

Had exactly this when making a sharp left turn , test driving a used D3 at Kentdale LR (Kendal) . I now believe it was the steering angle sensor needing calibration. although when this happened in 2006 it took a while to figure it out.

I've also had this with a rear tyre low pressure

Thanks guys,
I'll give the SAS re-calibration a go - the trader i bought it off had to replace the upper electric steering column and i know they didn't have any kind of diagnostic equipment as they had to get it to LR for coding. I'm assuming LR would have just coded it to the ECU and not done anything else.
I'll also do the height calibration - just got to work out how to do it with my nanocom.
Interesting on the tyre pressure, i will check them again to see but would that also throw a diagnostic code of lost communications?
Thanks,
Mike.

A tyre problem is more likely to trigger the DSC when cornering.

Just checked pressures - all ok.
Re calibrated the steering (was 5 is now 0). I guess i did it right, i pressed the recalibrate button - after doing its thing, it turned to status "initial" so i then turned the steering full right, then full left after which it turned the status to "calibrated".
Right max value was 602, left was 599 so i guess they seem close enough.
I'll see if that cures it then look to do a ride height calibration (the front left is definitely low).

Just to report back on this, it seems it was the steering angle sensor as i did a recalibration and its been fine since.
I did attempt to recalibrate the suspension heights and thought i'd got there with some numbers that ended up at the extreme ends of whats allowed as a differential. Unfortunately, with these settings, it kept throwing me fault codes and disabling the TR/highering/lowering etc so i guess the sensors were outside their expected ranges when moved. Cure for this was to set the values back to what they were initially as the heights were not that much out and its been fine since - still, good practice in fiddling.

I'm having an identical problem when I turn right on bends that throw the weight onto the front near side wheel. Feels like the wheel is rubbing hard against the arch. Obviously it isn't. Tried all of above plus new bearing, breaks, abs sensor, abs sensor ring. Checked air suspension. Tyre pressures. Still there and happens a couple of times a week. This is not as severe if DCS is switched off.
I keep my D3 in top condition. Oil every 5k, service every 12k and spent £11k on it since new keeping everything in good order. Had new gearbox, prop, everything that bolts onto engine and all new lower suspension and bearings. 207k on clock. Sweet as a nut apart from this issue. Three years I've been trying to sort this front left problem. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. OH, did I mention I changed the diff too?
I await with baited breath.
