Does anybody want a D3 Car Care discussion topic??
Just a thought.....
Does anybody else think it would a nice idea to have a separate discussion topic (similar to the new Navigation topic) dedicated to car care, cleaning and detailing?
I know that it wouldn't really be D3 specific, but there seems to be quite a few people interested in this area and everyone (especially me) has lots of questions, doubts and advice...
NOTE:
Please think carefully before showing interest just because I'm asking nicely ....remember that this is first and foremost a D3 forum and we wouldn't want to dilute/contaminate it by adding topics that don't need to be here....the front page is already at risk of being crowded.
That said we've all spent a serious amount of hard-earned (or someone else's) cash on our D3s and many of us are interested in protecting them despite the abuse we sometimes hand-out to them.
EDIT: Please also do not just say no because you believe that having a dirty car all of the time is part of owning a D3. (yes DG I mean you )2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

Oh heck, I spend all my time getting mine mucky. I do keep the Lotus Esprit clean though.
Must say though that the D3 is actually a lot easier to wash & leather than the D2 - a lot smoother I guess although its only been done properly a couple of times .....
Any tips on removing dog hairs much appreciated though.I liked my D2, but my D3's better ....(& the RRS better still)

I think a car clean/detailing topic maybe an agreed best practice car cleaning technique sticky, but I'm not sure about a detailing seperate section.
Mind you, it could also attract more D3 'lurkers' that are frightened off by some of the off road talk/pics. Would cater for both worlds perhaps.
Especially if there was a site sponsor for cleaning products (CLEANANDSHINY ARE YOU LISTENING)
The question to ask, is how many times does the topic come up? If it's a high proportion of 'general' or 'My Discovery 3' topics then perhaps it should be created.Bodsys Brake Bible

If there is enough agreement for any suggestion then I'm sure Martin would consider it It's not about slating ...but some will find it really relevant and some won't 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I keep the D3 clean and do various car-valeting jobs as a mini-business so I'd be interested, but I dont think there would be enough input to justify a whole section...

Agreed DG .
The poll is there to try and get a quick and dirty measure of if we can be bothered with the idea or not. 50-50 at the moment, but only the people that are in favour have left comments with their reasons for voting

That's why I put a note in the original question saying that it might not be for everyone.....then again, even if only 20% of people find it an interesting idea it could still be worthwhile adding. Just because one person won't bother with the thread doesn't mean that others shouldn't benefit
As Bodsy said, not everyone who owns a D3 has bought it to conquer Everest and may feel awkward asking about how to clean baby sick from their alpaca trim whilst the other half of the forum are bolting on RAIs and heading for Morocco.
It's also interesting that the majority of high-volume posters in this forum are avid off-roaders. Unlike the early cars from 2004-2005, I think that a fair percentage of later owners (2006-2007) probably don't even go off road and probably bought the D3 as a good family car....it doesn't mean that they're not as passionate about their D3s as they off-road guys though.
Tea-time.....please keep the discussion coming....2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

All agreed ...my tongue in cheek comment earlier was just that ....and typically me I'm afraid 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

By creating a separate detail forum, it compartmentalises it nicely, reckon its a good idea

I think this would be a topic/forum (what IS the right word?) too far IMHO. Have a long topic/thread if you like - you might even get to 200 pages like the Word Association Thread Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)
