To activate the relays closed circuit I've used boot light for 12v+ (So that it doesn't open when car is locked) and the tailgate handle is -
Permanent 12v feed from the tow bar fuses for the actuator.
I've just been thinking, I wounded if my CJB is giving out enough current to activate my new fitted relay, To replace 12v from boot light. Just something for me to try.

Connected release handle back upto the cars wires. Put the actuator +12v wire on my relay and - to the body. Nothing happened. It was worth a try I suppose. Thinking positive, I do have it working the other way. Smile

Hi Antjp

Thanks for the relay information/connection........ sorry to hear it didn't work connecting up to the CJB, its sounds like your CJB is a bit sick........ I also have had the sunroof drains done, I wonder if there is some water damage on the CJB on your unit??

Perhaps if I find that the new actuator does the same I would try and drive the relay from the CJB and use a different supply to power the actuator via the relay..... or get a feed from the lights........ if I was going down this route I think I would add a bypass switch that can be accessed from the back seats to save crawling through the car when it doesn't work Rolling with laughter ......

Have a good afternoon.

I have this push bike cable installed to my tailgate release just incase it stops working. I fitted this a couple of years back when my release cable end broke off.

Hi all
New actuator arrive on Friday and first chance to fit it this evening (was in France for the weekend).....
And the difference is day and night, I am pleased to say that the actuator has resolved my issues.
As has been stated before, sometimes the actuator will operate a couple of times before it stops working othertimes it seems to do multiple operations without stopping, a bit strange....... I am so happy that I can get in the boot again Thumbs Up as it was becoming a pain.
It seems like the new apart has a slightly different manufacturing marks/names?? I wonder if the newer one will last longer????
Thanks everyone for their help with it, it's a good feeling when it all works again.

I'm pleased you have sorted it. I'm pleased with mine now it's working. Not only that, The other problems it's had over the last year has been horrific and I hated it for a while. Now I love it again.
