Brake and suspension work |
|
As a long time lurker i'm after a bit of help on my truck.
its been making a bit of noise in the last couple of days so took it to a local independent to have checked over and they tell me that the suspension bushes need replacing on the front and discs and pads all around.
My issue is in recent history its been into the main dealer and had:
April 15 @ 60k
Front wear at 90%
Rear at 60%
Front Replaced
December 15 @ 69k
Front wear at 30%
Rear wear at 90%
Rears Replaced
April 16 @ 73k
Front wear at 70%
Rear wear at 10%
Nothing done.
That wear seems really quick to me so surely must be as a result of another underlying issue? Will speak to the dealer tomorrow as should it have been something they picked up on?
The independent has quoted me 2k for the bushes and all round discs and pads is this a reasonable price?
I have warranty till mid next week i know i have no chances of the brakes being covered but according to my docs the suspension should be covered.
lost of questions so thanks in advance for and advice.
cheers
Tim

You can buy brakes all round and the front suspension arms (not just bushes) for £416 delivered from Advanced Factors (site sponsor). You can spend a little more for better ones.
Brakes are easy with the brake bible on here. The suspension arms are a bit harder, but many on here have done them. She does need 4 wheel aligning afterwards.

Get your arms replaced under warranty if you can and they should also do an allignment
Buy you discs and pads from AF and fit them yourself
If you are not up to this then, buy them and get them fitted by a non dealer and look for a price of well less than £600 total all in parts and labour
There are a few mobile people on the site that i am sure will be more than willing to give you a proper quote There is no I in team, but there are five in Individual Brilliance

Thanks for the info.
I'm certainly not to be trusted with doing the brakes myself even if I'm following the bible especially as in my mind at least there must be something else causing the brakes to wear so quickly.
I'll see if I can get the suspension done in time and then look to get the brakes done should save a bit.
Does anyone know someone that would come to bucks to do my brakes?
Thanks
