Service required 7000 miles early !
Hi
Just found this forum. Very active and excellent resource, really pleased to have found it.
My Disco 4 has done 8900 miles. It is 10 month old and is giving me a message saying that a service is required. The previous day it told me there were 1900 (or so) miles till a service required. Never had any warning lights (other than washer fluid low).
It's booked in for next week, but wanted to know what might have caused this and if it is common.
Cheers
Not sure if the model info I put in comes up automatically. It is a 2016MY HSE (it's uses Ad Blu)

If it believes the engine oil has become too diluted with diesel it can call for an early service.

Thanks Robbie
I presume this is to do with DPF regeneration when the extra diesel is injected ?
Cheers

Far better to service earlier than later particularly on the first service It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I could give it a thump but no doubt it would settle on the old avatar.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

If you hit reply at the right time you do get the old logo. Briefly.

Don't say that the Discovery is another diesel that you can't use for short trips.

Hi
Booked it in for a service, going next week (earliest they could do it). Latest is that I got Amber engine warning and triangle today saying diesel exhaust fluid not of correct quality. Fluid range saying 540 miles (was 6000 last week). Just been trailered home - M25 stretch with no hard shoulder!. Getting checked by Land Rover engineer at my house tomorrow.
I asked others that got this message for the latest on their cars. Hope it's not gloom and doom.
Please update us when LR have "fixed" the problem; guessing that they will apply a software patch.

Hi NJSS
Yes correct. Visiting technician did software patch to fix the Diesel exhaust fluid quality message and also forced a purge. 20 min test drive and all showing ok now. The 'service required' message had disappeared but that is back now. Booked in for Fri 13th. Hope that isn't a bad omen !
Apparently there are 3 campaign updates to do on the car when it goes in (minor stuff)
Cheers

The software patch on our urban cruiser was to make the heater coil light come on. When this happens we are to drive at motorway speeds for 25 minutes.
This is not practical so the car is being traded in for a mini.
When we were in the process of buying the car and said to the salesman that it would make a 15 mile trip each way to work I feel we should have been told that this wasnt suitable for that in which case would not have bought the car.

I hope you buy a petrol car as a replacement as no diesel car fitted with a DPF will be suitable!
