I'll post some pics of my rack mounts later, as I've been asked by a couple of other people anyway. The wiring's not difficult (says the electrician ), but TFC's wiring mine up for me My wiring will be routed up via the rear door, with a plug/socket by the rear pillar so that the rack can be removed with the wiring out of sight. I'll get pics of that too.
Excellent, thanks.

Basically the UN/ECE dictate all type approval for all aspects vehicle manufacturing....this little document stipulates the
Quote:
ADOPTION OF UNIFORM TECHNICAL PRESCRIPTIONS FOR WHEELED VEHICLES, EQUIPMENT AND PARTS WHICH CAN BE FITTED AND/OR BE USED ON WHEELED VEHICLES AND THE CONDITIONS FOR RECIPROCAL RECOGNITION OF APPROVALS GRANTED ON THE BASIS OF THESE PRESCRIPTIONS
This must therefore be integral to the UK type approval regs which then coincide with UK construction and use regs

Iain, I quite like the worklight. The non permanent with the cig lighter would be ideal for me.

If you go down to page 37 for example it details the exact specification of a H7 filament unit
In a nutshell ...the wattage spec for legal on road use is max. 55w for a single filament or 60 watt for a dual filament 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Or if you go for 24v you can have 75Watt
Really not sure UN regs count here
If there were a limit, why isn't it mentioned in our regs?
Read this - http://www.opsi.gov.uk/SI/si1989/Uksi_19891796_en_7.htm#nsch2
Height - Quote:(4c) c) Vertical-
(i) Maximum height above the ground-
(A) Any vehicle not covered by sub-paragraph (B), (C) or (D):
1500 mm or, if the structure of the vehicle makes this impracticable, 2100 mm
Power - Quote:8. Wattage:

There not just UN regs, they are applied ECE regs, the UN aspect is because some other countries around the world have also signed up to them
http://tinyurl.com/2qk6dr
http://www.crash-network.com/Regulations/E...tions.html
http://www.vca.gov.uk/additional/files/leg...natry2.pdf
...as you can see the UK is a signatory ...the Lighting regs percee don't specify wattage but they appear to be overridden by the construction and use implications of the ECE regs
No? 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

You tell me - I was the one asking for clarification
Everything in our regs says no limit on wattage, but then covers this by saying lamps must not dazzle other road users. Whether or not foreign regs cover our sovereign state, I wouldn't know Disco 5 HSE Lux

I've got visions of the peeps in blue with lightmeters in their hands.... and theeeeennn......???

I've spent all evening looking for this
Look at the last link ..it shows that the UK has approved the regs. Think about it ..there is type approval for the lighting housing specifications and there is type approval for the lamp filaments ...go to any lamp retailer and they will (should) have a statement next to any lamp bigger than 55w\60w saying 'Not street \ road legal'....now why would that be ....

They don't need a light meter - if they think your lamps are dazzling, you're nicked. I think
Any boys in blue on here who can confirm/deny our attempts to understand the regs? Disco 5 HSE Lux
