Swearing does help, Mythbusters confirmed it.
Ok, so it was a different subject that the swearing helped on, but I'll take it anyway.

Update:
All stripped down to nuts bolts, screws, washers and one huge jigsaw puzzle.
Block looks goods apart from a new set of rings and a small head skim . Turbo on its way for test and injectors likewise. Chassis prepped for Waxoyl and the list of bits gets longer.
Where is best value to buy a full set of gaskets, seals, oil pump housing, water pump, belts and tensioners. Belts and tensioners were only just replaced but i hear the experts here (Mikey and Flack) about to let loose and tell me to avoid short-cuts !! and they are pros so.... advice taken

An update:
Due to work commitments Ive been only getting in an hour or two every few days but ....
Im on the homeward stretch.
Chassis was stripped and cleaned and waxoyl'd and coated. Bushings were changed when access was good and all the brake discs taken off and cleaned hubs and carriers.
The alloys were completely refinished in sparkle silver.
The Engine: A complete rebuild with shiny are pistons, rings, main and big end bearings, valve seals and reseated as well as both heads skimmed and cylinders and block honed and polished and likewise with the crankshaft. New seals all over and new oil pump, water pump, reluctor ring (saga but thanks to Richard Griffiths in Charles Hurst in Belfast )
Auto box and transfer case, opened, inspected and new seals, filters and sump fitted.
Ive now to fit all the belts, sprockets and tensioners - all new as well as new glow plugs and god knows what else I've bought.
Thanks to John H - I have a new set of rear seats though i need to dye them to match the Alpaca and source left and right second row belts and a centre console lid.
The Trim - all bumpers and trim is now colour coded - i cheated and masked off the rear bumper to look like the D4 colour coding and it came out pretty good - pics when they are fitted.
I'm waiting to see what i do with lights - de-tango and leds i think and retro fir D4 rear lights.
I need to stop spending soon though as I'm getting too good at hiding receipts from my real boss !
Thanks to all especially Disco Mikey and Flack for your help and advice to date

A few more photos of the trim now colour coded and a few layers of strong lacquer on them as well as the shiny sealed and waxoyled frame and new bushings and freshly refinished alloys.
Ill take a few of the engine tomorrow - new pistons now fitted and the shiny new bearings fitted on the crank and installed complete with new reluctor ring, oil pump, water pump piston jets, seals and .... and......
2 shiny heads to fit in the morning and then try and time it up and start the refitting of the ancillaries.

Finally gotten back to the Disco and rebuilding it.
Engine fully rebuilt with nice shiny new bearing and pistons and rings, seals, water pump, oil pump, gaskets, belts......the list goes on !!
Started the refit of all the ancillaries and bits at lunchtime and just have it 80% there before the transmission is bolted on - spent a while working for the odd bolt and nut but the jiffy bags were a god send.
Bought a new oil level sensor (about 4 months ago) and cannot find it anywhere - anyone know if they are the same on anything else ? its the one that bolts into the sump

Ill take a few new photos tomorrow
