I've a pair of Reich Mirrors, found them better than the Grand Aeros, luckily I still have them, whether I ever get an MY16 to actually fit them on is another story

A pair of land rover mirrors ,for the d4, not cheap, these are fitted with a ratchet system which ensures that they can be tightened to make a perfect fit and come in a good storage bag. If I had to pay for them I would still have bought them.

Looking at your second picture, the clamps seem to be much closer together than how I have mine. I know that the clamp that is furthest away from the car is the most tricky to tighten, but I thought if they were further apart, they'd make the mirror more stable. Do you have any issues with the mirror wobbling with the clamps so close?
I like the idea of extra security offered by the inner tube trick though!  Bri

I'm going to need to do this next week before we go away. Are they the standard clamps with the inner tube on or the fancy swivel ones? If it works with inner tube on the standard clamp I won't bother trying to get hold of the swivel ones.

I haven't bothered using my Milenco aero's on my MY16 D4. I think the view is pretty good without. I'm not saying perfect but a lot less hassle. Watching with interest to see if a decent fix is found.

The view might be pretty good but need to be sure you are towing legally:

Hi all, just seen thread and haven't got round to trying my mirrors, just had a look at mirrors on bay (rover 75,45 ) look very similar with rubber strap to help hold in place ?

Hi all
I first posted in reply to Al's post on the 24th feb. I've now been away for the last 6 days in the van and been able to test my mirrors with a decent tow.
I'm pleased to say that the mirrors were rock solid and didn't budge.
I have the swivel type clamps and I've stuck some rubber to the thin plastic that sits between the mirror and cowling. Rather than use an inner tube I found a puncture repair kit which had some large rectangle patches and I stuck these to the clamps.
Now when tightening the clamps they don't squeeze off the mirror cowlings but grip tight with the clamp held right up to mirror (especially the outer clamp).
Very relieved. Currently 2015 D4 SE Tech, Corris Grey

There is a lot of chat here about Milenco Mirrors. i have used them for many years on disco 3 and currently on the latest mirrors. they work perfectly if you have the current clamps. the latest of the clamp has a rubber section on the tapered part this fits in the gap between glass and surround use the triangular pads attached to the fastening screws. perfect no vibration never move.

LR offer towing mirrors but they do not extend far enough, the Milenco long arms may be necessary for most caravans over about 7ft 5ins wide, to comply with the current legislation.

Are you sure you can see the areas behind your trailer that you need to see to meet the legislation?
there are quite a few mirror checks being carried out by the law these days. Rodey L

i was trying to be helpful, knowing a number of people who have been challenged by the police.
there is a specific area each side of the rear of a caravan that you need to be able to see with the extended mirrors, the wider the caravan the longer the arm sneed to be.
there are diagrams and words, just trying to be helpful, i don't like to see people in trouble. i have copied the words and dia. here.
TOWING MIRRORS - THE LAW
The Law in the United Kingdom specifies you must be able to see clearly down both sides of the caravan, and see 4 meters either side of the caravan at a distance of 20 meters behind the rear of the caravan.

This in reality means, if your caravan/trailer is wider than the rear of your tow vehicle, you must fit towing mirrors to comply with the law. You can be fined up to £1000 and get 3 points on your licence for towing blind.
On tow vehicles conforming to directive 2003/97 EC or sold after January 2007, the towing mirrors may project 25cms further than the widest part of the caravan. On tow vehicles pre dating this directive, the mirrors may project 20 cms further than the widest part of the caravan.
Since 12th of December 2005 it is a legal requirement that you have type approved (e-marked) mirrors on both sides of the tow vehicle.
