D4XS Vs D3HSE
I was planning on upgrading my 55 plate D3HSE to a D4HSE early this year, but various issues at home mean I won’t now have the ability to do this until much later this year.
However two weeks ago I had to have a TC fitted to the D3 wiping out £1400, and two days ago it was involved in an accident that could write it off.
So, just in case, I’ve been doing some brief homework looking at the cost of D4s.
What I don’t really understand is the difference between an early 3.0 D4 XS and my D3 HSE with regard to toys etc.
I definitely wouldn’t miss the sunroofs.
I would miss the premium HK sound system, Satnav, leather seats, 4x4 info screen, Climate control, parking sensors and Bluetooth phone.
I’m assuming the D4 XS has all of these except the 4x4 info screen, which I believe can be activated anyway, and a lot for sale appear to have the premium HK sound fitted as an upgrade from new.
I would like a rear camera, but I believe this can be retro fitted quite easily.
Am I missing something, as the difference between D4XS and D4HSE appears to be the Premium sound system, 4x4 screen and sunroofs.
Thanks

Some had been ordered with armrest pack which wasn't standard on the XS, something I would find it hard to live without.

I'm trying to get to grips with this myself.
Whilst the D4 XS may have leather seats, some have said that the quality of the seat is not as good as that on the HSE.
You might also 'miss' heated rear seats and (possibly) TV?Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

Blimey, hadn't realised there would be no Armrests, that would be a definite requirement for me.
Are they 'retrofitable'?
Thanks guys, anything else?
Is the Bluetooth phone standard?
Would anyone have an old early D4 spec list I could look at?
Thanks

One of the options was 'Electric seat and armrest pack' so I'm guessing that might be a yes.Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

Armrest isn't realistically retro-fitable, but it might be possible to fit complete HSE seat? I'm still not clear on how much electrical work is needed to achieve this.
I specified the elec seats / armrest pack on my last D4XS simply to get the elec seat adjustment rather than the standard manual adjustment that has the habit of tipping you forward as you raise the seat.
No rear seat heating on a standard XS, or rear air con.Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

XS fitted with armrest pack and electric seats doesn't come with electric seat memory if I remember correctly.
As said a fair few XS had the logic7 upgrade specified (mine has and rear camera). I added 4x4 info, timed/remote climate. Note XS did not come with xenon lights as standard.
D3 --> D4 it's not just about the toys though......

Thanks all.
Thankfully my D3 has now had the go ahead to be fixed not written off, but this means I have more info for when I do go for it.
Do I take it the reversing camera is only HSE or an upgrade?
Is it easily retro-fitted on an XS with no problems?
Having had a look, I think an upgraded XS might suit me better, as although I like the light from a sunroof I don't like the problems associated with the LR ones leaking etc.

As with armrest some XS D4s were ordered with reversing camera as a factory upgrade.
I am pretty sure Bodsy can retro fit them.Displaced Yorkshireman.

No auto dipping mirrors when reverse is selected on an XS. HSE and above only.
Seats is a big issue though, far superior in HSE and above spec.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

In what respect are the seats a big issue?
Is it just that they are manual adjustment or are they different in other ways?
Thanks

Different shape I believe and less adjustment. There's been quite a few comments on the subject.
Oddly, the sunroof also gives a fraction more interior headroom. That's important for me.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE
