Brand spanking new disco 3 owner - 2 niggles to fix

Bought a '06 disco last week - first ever discovery / Land Rover / 4x4! In fact, it's only the second car I bought since my 1989 Ford Fiesta 1.1 back in 1999! (Company cars since Smile )

Haven't stopped grinning - I was even allowed to mount a grass verge at the weekend Smile

A couple of niggles to sort:

1. Parking sensors don't work - according to seller, it's the front passenger sensor. Ordered one from eBay - will attempt this myself - apart from getting through to bumper and replacing, do I need to do a thing else? (Reset errors?)

2. Air suspension compressor apparently needs replacing - although the light hasn't come on since I've bought it home. Worth getting a mechanic to do this one? Seems straightforward to replace from research.

Welcome to the show Thumbs Up
With the greatest of respect get the codes read and identify which parking sensor is faulting and go forward from there .the loom has also been known to give trouble .
Again with the compressor correct diagnosis is your friend . If it is faulting ,and it is known too it is quite a straightforward job to replace Thumbs Up

Can't help with first fault but second one is pretty easy spanner job but if you decide to replace the Hitachi with the AMK updated model you'll need to flash the ecu with the new software. Well worth doing the AMK replacement sorts out some issues from the Hitachi

Cheers guys.

By any chance, anyone on here near bath with experience tinkering?

I'm pretty confident with most jobs - but would be handy to have someone near by for a second opinion. Particularly with the ecu flashing or someone with a fault reading device.

Had a quote from a dealer near Bristol - over a grand to do this.

Priority for me is the parking sensor. Then I'll have a go at Wiggs' Bluetooth upgrade.

Beware the dealers and their interpretation of the codes!

I was told there was a fault in the wiring harness that was puting on the airbag light, and they would have to remove the harness and cut it open to find the fault. Perhaps £1,000 - or even more. Odd how the fault went away when someone who knew what he was doing removed the driver airbag and straightened out the wires!
