Question on Tail/ Stop light LEDs
Hi all
Having read about all the trouble the stop/tail lights bulbs can cause, I was looking at buying new bulbs to have spares available to hand in my D3 in case the electronic gremlins ever came out.
My question is, would the LED alternative be as reliable (or better?) than new conventional bulbs?
Or do LEDs bring issues of their own?

I swapped my incandescent tail/stop globes with a red LED tail/stop globe a few years back and I have absolutely no issues.

I swapped the brake lights over to LED and now have interference with the radio when braking.
I still haven't swapped them back as its intermittent and doesn't bother me as much as SWMBO.
ISTR a few others have had the same issueDiscovery3 TDV6 GS

I had the same issues with radio reception on braking. So I swapped the brake lights back to standard incandescent and kept the LEDs in the rear lights.
No more issues since.

Probably a stupid question but here you go...
I understand I need to have "installed spares" for the brake lights (i.e. 4 lights for the stop lights), presumably ok to leave a filament bulbs for the spare? (I.e. 2 LED and 2 conventional type?)
Not a problem, but naturally the tail lights would not then match.
I've actually done a slightly more complex version of the twin brake light modification involving a couple of relays and extra feeds that makes use of the secondary bulbs as brake lights, but only when the tail lights are not on (I wanted to retain the differential when braking under such circumstances).
