It's how the car has been maintained that matters more than the mileage, but then I have a 142k car for sale. DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Based on my experience of my old bus; at 120k + the belts will have been done, so any issues should have come to light (oil pump casing). Suspension lasts well (175k), but wishbones and suspension bushes will probably need doing at about that mileage and maybe the compressor. I think I also I had my corroded brake lines repaired at around that mileage.
As long as it has been well serviced 120 -140k should be a reasonable place to start looking. Try and see what recipets they have to confirm what has been done.
These are great cars but if they go wrong then they aren't cheap to repair, but prevention is the best route. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)
Sold Volvo XC90 R-Design (known as Basil)

Still original injectors and turbo

My 2009 SE has done 140k, most of it wellloaded. A colleague (who is also a mechanic) travelled with me last week and commented on how tight it still felt
but
as has already been said, it depends on how well the car has been maintained. I've had some new arms and numerous bushes replaced over the years Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE
Previously:
TD5 Defender 110 CSW (230k miles)
300TDi Disco 1 (289k)
4 RR Classics (300-350k each, 2 manual, 2 auto)
110 V8 CSW (220k)
S3 109 hi cap pickup (ex RN)
S2A 88 Safari SW with lpg conversion (bloody lethal)

i have 2 i want to go test drive as soon as i get time but neither are near me
1 is around 110K and fairly clean and the other seems a better looking car with more spec at 140k and is 1500 cheaper
both full service history so will just have to look at the work that has been done on them
i am fairly picky tho so doubt i will buy any of the first few i see

Hunt until you find the right one.
Whilst perhaps extreme, I travelled from west of Glasgow to Lincolnshire to buy mine-and the previous car came from Herefordshire Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

As has been said they can be expensive cars to run. I do about 40k a year and have had mine for 5 years. My cheapest year was £2k and the most expensive was £6k for repairs and servicing. The 6k did include a replacement engine at 231k. Having said that it is the only car I have owned that still makes me smile after 5 years of ownership. It has now done 250k and still drives as it should. Provided it has been well maintained I wouldn't worry too much about high miles. Good luck with the hunt D4 2016 Landmark, Waitomo Grey.
D3 2005 HSE, Bonatti Grey, now sold but still comes back for servicing.
Defender 2002 Td5 Commercial, had a hard life but slowly being restored.
I only work so I can afford to repair my Land Rovers!

The car is tight, it's had all the bushes and arms etc done, also front and rear prop shafts and bearings. Owned from new and serviced only by main dealers and specialists. That's where looking at just mileage is very misleading. If you see a car a long way away on the forum often others have knowledge of the car and may offer an opinion. Or you could pay someone like Geoff to look over a car. DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

This would be a great option for me, if I find one I like and it's near someone with crazy d3 knowledge I may have to rent them for an hour lol
Is there a what to look for when buying guide on here anywhere? An idiots guide would be best

Well traveled 2 hours today to look at becoming a d3 owner
The engine had zero oil in it, coolant was also empty and the battery was totally flat when they said the car was traded in 2 days before
On trying to get the d3 started the exhaust smoke stank of oil too
Back to scouring auto trader I guess

I am awaiting my post count to come up or an exemption if I am lucky enough, but we will/are selling our very nice D3 in black with 99,000 miles and very good history. I will advertise on here as soon as I can as I always find selling cars on an enthusiasts forum the way to go.
Let me know if this is of interest and I will supply details and pictures in whichever way I am aloud to without breaking the forums for sale rules.
Hope this post is allowed

Thinking I may pop it on pistonheads tomorrow as it is a little more specialised than some of the other selling routes.
