Reading all this reminds me of my D3 that I bought in Jan 2005 - tonga green S GU54 GUJ if the current owner is reading this I'd love to hear how she is getting on.
I sold her in 2012 to get a D4 as it was a company car and with retirement looming it was change then or never. I spent about £3K on her just before I sold her and thought she should have been good for another 6 or 7 years.

I don't think there's really a need for a special forum/group for 10+ year owners, but I am happy to add a label under your username (similar to my "Site Admin and Owner" one).
However I think it should be for those who have owned the same D3 for 10 years+, rather than those who own a D3 which is more than 10 years old.
Agreed.2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.
^^^^Ditto. My D3 is over 10 years old but not having owned it for so long, I certainly wouldn't feel I justify any special recognition! Would be nice to see its own section, D5 has already got its but if Martin prefers to add a 10 year tag under a members details that would be great too, thanks guys for all the support

Appreciate this is what you want, however I don't see the value of an extra section as I don't see that there are enough issues/discussions that are specific to 10 years+ of ownership of a D3.
There's no active thread about 10 year + ownership (other than this one) so a dedicated section seems OTT 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Acknowledging outstanding contribution, outstanding longevity of forum attendance works well.
Just getting a 10y badge for owning an old car just seems like a lot of admin and hassle for Martin and mods for no real benefit.
Having a reputation system or levels of membership works well on other sites...
If we had a member who had the first D3 off the line or similar - that would be worth a special badge imhoMY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

Nice positive reply Dubbs it's just an idea I had, If it's taken up great, if not that's ok too, I'm sure the older owners will still enjoy their cars all the same

Not meant as a criticism per se, just when you think about it there's quite a lot of admin for Martin etc., and at the end of the day there's not too much special about a 10 year old car unless
It was very limited numbers or has something remarkable in its provenance.
I could go and buy a 10 year old muttley D3 for £4000 and run it in to the ground, why would that be worthy of recognition?
I like your special recognition idea, definitely. But maybe aligned to a member's contribution, rep, or posts?

I think you've got slightly the wrong end of the stick, I'm proposing some recognition for those who have owned the same D3 for 10 or more years, not for simply owning a 10 year old D3 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Looking at some of the pictures like Moo's, the long term ownership and family memories that the D3 has been part of somehow can only be appreciated if you've actually owned the same car for this length of time. At first when Martin said he wasn't keen on giving this an extra section I was a little disappointed but on reflection he's right, just a small recognition would be great I do like this forum, saved me loads of money and has added interest to owning and running my D3, I'm sure the majority of longer term owners feel the same.

I agree with Glassman. As I approach 11 years of owning my D3 from new and 10 years being on this Forum, it would be nice when reviewing posts to see others that are in a similar position. [I appreciate that date joining Forum is visible, as is the number of posts]2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.
