westy - if you go up to 20's, the highest profile you can fit is 50's, more commonly 45's. Never seen 20 (or 19) in 235.
Use one of the tyre calulators, and use a 255/55x19 as a standard D3 tyre size, and then you can find an alternate size, and stay within 2.5% of the standard size.
Also - check wieght ratings whem looking at alternates, Try and stick with 111's (or above) if you can, although quite a few run 110's in 20"'s

Wheel Confusion!
Really interesting posts guys - but one question. How do you sort this out with your insurance company?? After market? non-standard? lower than rated specs? - my insurance company had apoplexy when I said I was looking at changing my wheels. My 07 D3 has 18" (factory fit) and I'd like to go up to 19" and fit Grabbers - but - oh no!! underwriter chappy says "your on your own if you do this pal!" You gotta tell me how you do it. I'm now looking to cancel with current insurance and go somewhere else. Same applies with remapping - can't do it and stay insured. Help! Now gone -D3 XS 2007

V6Mike, I can't help with the wheels but as for the map, a mate of mine had his FL2 remapped and told the insurance is was for better fuel economy (NFU), premium stayed the same he upped his BHP!

Thanks Skep. I think your comments confirm I'm with the wrong insurance co. Gonna ring round and get some feedback from others. Still wondering about the guys who fit wheels & tyres below D3 spec. If they have a big claim what will Mr Insurance do? My experience indicates they love to find a reason or two to throw out a claim - especially a big one.Now gone -D3 XS 2007

Guys, I can buy a set of these:
coming from a FFRR. Will the tyres fit my Disco 3 or do I need a different tyre size?
Thanks!

Looking in to buying a set of 20 inch, but I can't seem to find the right tyres with a load index of 111 in 20" ? The highest load index I find is 110.

Problem is 20s are not an "official" D3 wheel size so no specific tyre spec.

And what about a D4? Lower load index?

Change your broker.
The D3 is Type Approved for 17" (235/70), 18" (255/60) and 19" (255/55), all at a LI of 111 with a speed rating of V. Speed de-rating to H is permitted for specific tyres such as Winter tyres. The door tyre panel provides you with all the evidence you need.
Now... the old Goodyear MT/R, as fitted by LR on UK spec G4 vehicles were S speed rated - LR may have got an exemption for that, don't know.
The vehicle is also type rated for a 'orrid skinny space saver, but probably not one on each corner...Club missing my D3
