Thanks Al.
ronp now doing the speaking here
If you don't mind I'll just respond with the one post rather than the usual triple of the above
Yep, I've been running the 285/50/20 LTZ's for well over a year now.
Fantastic all round tyre ... best yet !!!
As yours is a MY06 you shouldn't have any issues in terms of rubbing on the wheel arches etc.
The only thing I reckon you need to be aware of is the offset.
But since you have been running 275/45/20's I'd suggest all would be ok.
You just need to look at the clearance you've currently got between the existing tyre and front uprights.
...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Are there any specialist rims which are black or dark grey which fit the L319? I'm not wanting any, but I'd just be interested to know of anything.

As at Jan 2009, all Discovery 3 factory fit and dealer fit wheels (17, 18 & 19") have been rated at 940kg per rim. While it is physically possible to fit wheels from the Range Rover Sport and some later FFRR wheels, it should be noted that the rims are rated for a lower weight.
FFRR - 925kg
Copied the above from earlier...
It states from 2009 the 19" wheels on a D3 were rated at 940kg, does anyone know what it was from 2007?
Ta.

how about - yep, 940kg.
as far as I know, all D3 19's have been 940kg, whereas RRS 19's are 900kg.

Thanks Al, so I " might" be taking a perceived risk with FFRR wheels at 925 then unfortunately? ( Although it seem plenty are running them!)

quite a few of us have run both/either RRS and FFRR alloys, and I dont recall anybody on here posting any issues relating to strength/reliability at all. If anything is going to fail, its more likely to be the tyre.

I am working on fitting 305/55/20 Mickey Thomson, BAJA ATZ
For this the suspension has to be raised 4 cm's, by shortening the sensor arms
(and thus fooling the air suspension)
Because the upper inside front suspension arm is close, they have to be fitted
with 2.5 cm spacers.(at least with the 10 spoke sport, so that depends on the
value of the rim)
They're on, and hit the body with bumps only, since the outer edges are outside
the wheelcasing and don't "tuck in".
Another reason is, that by raising the suspension with "air" , the schock stops aren't raised,
and therefore the tires hit the body before the shock hits the stop.(already under moderate circumstances)
If anybody is interested, I'll keep you posted.
If anybody has done this before succesfully, please let me know.

Ronp and Al cope, sorry , i just read your reply's, I'm new at this forum comm, but thank you very much for
the info.
To fit the 305's, Some body work has been modified already , mainly outer arches,
It looks stunning.Since I'm half way , there is a good chance I'll persevere.
That would mean bying the same size , but then a road tire for all day use(more comfortable). Maybe just one size smaller.
Raise the body 2 inches mechanically(not as they did with the air), and in doing so, raising the shock stop.
Then adjusting the final gear ratio back to normal, because now, eventhough tuned, the car is struggling with the low revs.
top speed tuned 185 km/hr(with speedlimiter out) acceleration 12.8. All this due to the higher setting and heavy and bigger dimension tires. And then recalibrating the odometer.
Question:Mine is recalibrated but 305 couldn't be inserted in the software. Do you know if 285 is the highest value?
Do you notice the diameter versus lower rev's and consume more fuel because off that?
Regards

Question for Ronp,
Hi,
I abandoned the 305 project, too many compromises.
Now it will be one road set and one off road set, or go for the hybrid LTZ's.
Ronp, how is the noise level on these?
And where you able to insert 285/50 in the software so that the speedometer is accurate?
And no problem with the lower rev's?(mine had trouble with the 305's, transmission overheat ex)
Regards Bart

Will these fit our 2007 D3 please?( from a 2009 FFRR). The bloke is getting back to me with the weight stamp in the rim.
Have scrolled down both threads ( fit/notfit) but couldn't see an exact match.

I think Ken tried these, and they needed a spacer.

I think the 2010 RR alloys foul the brake calipers on the D3, as although the stud pattern/bolts are OK, the offset at 58 puts the wheel closer into the arch then the older RR (pre 2010) alloys (at offset 53)
