GPS failure.

The Nav on my D3 has stopped working. I've checked the connections by the high brake light and nothing obviously wrong. Is there a way of checking the system before I buy a new receiver? Hawkeye doesn't seem to have any options.

Thx

Tony

Be aware that GPS and GLONASS are routinely messed around with during time of a heightened homeland threat. Did you check you can get a good cold fix on a mobile phone (turn off WiFi assistance).

I used to work on GPS for Fastjets and survey vessels but my data is at least 10 years old.

A cold fix can take flipping ages as the car will have to download the almamac:

If GPS in Sunny Surrey was being messed with this post would have 200 replies, not one.

Thankfully this does not happen; even selective availability was turned off quite a few years ago. Whilst GPS jamming is occasionally practised during military exercises this is always done in areas where the effect will be minimal and it is always pre-warned.

Anyway, back to the fault and the hunt for chaffed wires, split antenna enclosure or a receiver failure.

All I'm saying is it's far more likely that OP's GPS receiver is knackered than there are war games (requiring GOS knobbling) in the top left corner of that county that takes in a good portion of the M25, A3, M3 and Heathrow. Whistle

I should really add one of those to my toolbox as it would save me diagnostic time - thanks Geoff.

Sorry for the delay in thanking you for responding. Lots of other stuff got in the way and I don't use the factory Satnav that much!

The box on Ebay looks interesting but I'm guessing it might take a while to arrive ???

Any other options as I can't find any chaffing etc at the moment.

Thx
