Your accountant should be able to advise on the best most cost effective method for you to get the d4 commercial. Bodsys Brake Bible
I just took HP under my company's name. My business pays the monthly payments... pretty much exactly if you were to take the loan yourself and wanted to own the vehicle at the end of the term (so not like lease-hire, where you hand it back).
As long as your company has been running long enough and you can prove you can cover the payments, you should be ok. But be sure about it before you make the purchase – you'll be looking at something like a £1000 bill every month, and those payments won't go away if you decide to get a full-time job!2016MY Discovery 4 Commercial , 3.0 SDV6 Auto, Santorini Black, side-steps, 510s.

Kris...
Hope you are well - I know there are sponsors on here, but I suggest you speak to Paul White at Alpha Contract Hire and Leasing in Northampton.
He's done vehicles for me for around 17 years now, including 3 Commercials and our fleet of company vans and has always been best on either price or delivery... or a combination of the two that makes it viable.
He's a top chap... tell him I sent you!
Rob... met you with a bumper from someone, somewhere obscure, some time ago!D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY

Im about to push the button on a HP deal along the lines of this:
£38.8k commercial (spec'd up a bit)
pay the £8k VAT (which you then reclaim), pay a further £3k deposit, 48 monthlies of £589 followed by a HP balloon of £13.5k. It'll be worth more than the £13.5k in 4 years so whatever you can get for it after that is a bonus really. For me, that kind of deal keeps the cash flow situation for my seasonal business.

If I wanted to exchange the car after yr4, I will probably roll whatever equity I have in it into a new vehicle.
Ive just sold the 10' plate GS with 90k on the clock to a local garage for £15k, so that'll sort the VAT & deposit on the new one with enough left over for a few bits when it arrives (side tubes, AT tyres, livery etc).
The beauty of the commercial is that it is written down within one year and will mean that I won't pay any corporation tax next tax year.

It totally depends on where the market is. For example, in November 2019 I make my ballon payment of £13.5k, I then sell the car for £20k (rough estimate based on 4 year old vehicle with 90k on the clock) it means in theory have £6.5k to play with for a deposit.
When I worked it out the total cost of ownership was roughly £25k over 4yrs. It was £20k for a Ranger Wildtrak, so to me its well worth an extra £1.2k per year to drive the Disco, which has pulled me out of many sticky situations in the past. I don't put anywhere near as much faith in the new Ranger Wildtrak we have when it comes to towing 3.5t trailers off road.

Personal Tax
How does that work on your own personal tax? Does it get counted as a benefit in kind? Is it dependent on mileage? Are you expecting to pay any tax for having access to the company car?
I have a Ltd Co but no real need to own a vehicle in it, apart from the finances!! Just curious how it might work from a Self Assessment point of view.2018 1.5Ti Skoda Octavia - dull as f&ck
