Leather

Starting to look at changing my D3 that I bought new in 2006, so things have changed a bit! What is the difference between Premium leather and Windsor leather? I've been looking at HSE Lux variants and got rather bamboozled!

I thought I heard on here that with the arrival next year of the D5, specing a D4 as you want it was proving a bit of a task. My understanding was that there are a couple of run out models that only come in limited colours for interior and exterior.

I could be completely wrong on this as I haven't been near a LR dealership for many months.

Yes, I'm looking at nearly new; there are lots around the £50K with only a few thousand miles, but I'm trying to find out the difference between the leather.

The more expensive leather on the HSE is much nicer. Although that alone would not be a dealbreaker for me.

Premium leather is in my HSE Lux. It's very soft, and the door tops and dash top are also stitched leather. The only annoying thing for me is the seats have a seam down the centre of the back rest and the seat base, which I can 'feel' through my clothes.

This is my second and she has done 142k and the first was a 54 plate that I did 26k in but had lots of issues. Those were the days though!

Cheers Martin & Gareth.

Mine just passed 140k this morning, she'll be 10 in April. Hopefully I'll get another 140k and 10 years out of her. Mr. Green

I have had both.

The grained leather is much more durable and will stand up to abuse better. so if you have kids/dog that rides in the front etc... that may be a consideration.

If you give it a leather treatment with dubbin or a decent leather cream it softens up A LOT.

I now have an HSE and the windsor leather is more pliant albeit that may also be due to a softer seat in the HSE as well? It is definitely less durable/marks more easily.

As a previous poster said - I wouldnt let it be a deciding factor unless you are a leather aficianado/fetishist. Embarassed

edit - i have just realised you asked between premium leather and windsor - not standard leather and windsor. i apologise.
