Tailgate locked when in drive |
|
My car is set up to open all doors when the key fob is pressed. I have found that when the car is in drive the tailgate is locked but none of the other doors are locked. Is this normal?
Thanks

Yep..
It's also locked when you are in reverse.
A) stops nicking your shopping when you are at traffic lights
B) stops you reversing over some one who's getting stuff out of the boot Sill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders

Yep, my usual procedure.....
1. Fancy drink out of fridge in boot
2. Pull into lay-by, neutral, park brake on
3. Exit vehicle and go to rear to open boot
4. Fail to open boot
5. Mutter profanities
6. Return to driver's seat, stick leg in to depress brake pedal, move gear selector into park
7. Return to rear of vehicle to retrieve drink
8. Every... single.. time...

Yep won't work in Neutral either. At least you can reverse the Disco with the door open unlike many German cars. Useful for parking as tight to the kerb/white line as possible. 2014MY Discovery

One thing I found out the other day was you can't reverse with the drivers door open. Couldn't work out why the handbrake wouldn't release at first then clicked that I had the door open! I was reversing alongside a building so was just leaning out to get as close as possible. Cheers Ian

Was happily reversing in mine with the door open this morning so I could see where the kerb was. 2014MY Discovery

Had you applied the handbrake before you selected reverse? I wonder if it's just the handbrake wont release when the door is open, I'll have to give it a go later Cheers Ian
