Rear view camera

Is the rear view camera on the Discovery 4 an infrared camera? I have recently changed my Disco 4 for a my 2012 Range Rover, but the reversing view at night is very poor, I can't remember this problem with the Disco. The revering lamps are really poor on the Range Rover and I am thinking of upgrading to LEDs. But if the difference is the Disco uses infa red and the Range Rover does not, I wonder if it is possible to fit an infrared camera. Anybody know?
