Hi, mine has similar problem on transmission fault, using my iidtool and only reading the " non confirmed faults" it says this:

Transmission

P0783-23 (27) 3-4 shift - General signal failure - signal stays low

Somebody from ZF told me that is a typical advisory when it's time to have a transmission flush because the very small metallic parts inside the transmission oil have a magnetic effect on the mechatronic unit and cause an electric trigger on the 3rd to 4th gear control switch.

It's curious that this happen only in "low gear"

I'll have an hard flush next month and i will check again

Hi Bryn,

What mileage are you at - sorry, this was what I meant when I asked before (Bryn sent me a PM, BTW, for any confused onlookers!)? Question

What voltage is the alternator outputting?

I'm afraid a genuine gearbox issue (of some kind) is now looking probable. Have you had any judder at all?

Thumbs Up

Hi Olly
The Alternator output is 15.1 volts, and I have been reading some of the threads on this subject. (Hopefully not a problem) I left Mike with some codes, speaking to Mark my nephew who connected the Diagnosis machine to the disco, who said he cleared the codes initially re ran the software and the only code that came up was n/s EGR valve I did locate a new one and spent almost 2 days fitting it, It would appear at the minute that everything is running ok now, we shall have to wait and see.
best regards

Hi Sidestick
Please let me know what difference the hard flush makes mate and what procedure it was done in. I mean how they did the actual procedure and what it feels like afterwards and a rough idea how much it cost.
best regards

With 141k on the clock, and I'm assuming you've never had a flush/fluid change, then gearbox problems are also not unlikely. Sad

Gearbox flushing is done via the oil cooler, and costs around £250-300. If you catch it very soon, it can save a failing torque converter, but primarily is of use as a prevenitive measure. Flushing a high mileage box carries the risk that it will cause other (existing) gearbox issues to show themselves, due to the removal of contaminants - in short, if your gearbox has issues, it may well make them worse.

15.1V is at the high end of accpetable - You may want to investigate your battery. Thumbs Up

I would recommend you blank your EGRs - simple and cheap for an 06MY. Wink

Hi Olly
You guys are real diamonds Bow down I mentioned to Mike earlier in the thread that the EGR's were already blanked off, it appears that the electrical side stilll works as such, my nephew was saying that unless it is programmed out it will still believe it's operational and will cause all sorts of problems. At the minute it is running nice and changing up and down ok, no surging etc, these electronics!! why are they so complex? I am not going to flush at all unless something happens mate.
I am going to get the battery checked next, reading some of the threads on the forum it doesn't necessarily mean alternator with that 15.1 charging, also it seems like it is a special battery as well, is that right? It's never had a gbox flush Olly
Appreciative of all the help you are giving

This is the recommended battery (and supplier): https://www.tayna.co.uk/EA1000-Exide-Premi...P7488.html Thumbs Up (Edit: If you should need one, that is.)

Blanking EGRs only needs the software modification on EU4 vehicles (07MY onwards), so if yours is 06MY you don't need this. Wink
