My Osram DRL fitting (pic heavy)!
I decided after seeing a few people on here install them that i'd give the Osram drl/fog kit a go from Advance Factors. I took some photo's along the way to hopefully help anyone else who is considering fitting this kit themselves!
The hardest part I found was actually fixing the lights in place! I mounted the lights behind the fixing holes instead of in front so I didn't need to trim the covers. It turns out I need to take a shave off them but they look fine as they are. I used a straight bracket to fix the third hole as I wasn't happy with just two fixings, the bracket is braced across the two original fixing points and pulled tight by the screw. I also trimmed some of the plastic away from the sides so I could get the drl's to sit dead centre.

I routed the drivers side drl wire through the front bumper to behind the passenger side drl/fog. I mounted the control box inside a hole in the passenger side wing with the double sided pad included!

Then I ran the wires going to the drl's and headlight down behind this bar until I connected them up behind the passenger side drl, theres a small void under where the headlight sits.

Spliced the white wire into the red/black sidelight wire, soldered, heatshrinked, and taped.

The Blue wires needs to go to a switched ignition live. Most I found stayed live for about 10-20 seconds after the ignition was off which bugged me! I eventually found the front heated seats fuse 7 in the engine bay fuse box turns off at the same time as the ignition, so I used a piggyback fuse from here to join onto the blue wire.

The negative I added to the existing negative point in the bottom of this picture

Then if I was doing it the normal way I would have just connected the live to the battery.........but I wasn't!!! I decided I wanted to add a switch for those occasions where I want the engine on but the lights off........when me and the missus are dogging, for example!!!!
I ran two cables in some split conduit down the side of the engine fuse box, behind the battery and then ran them through my existing split charge conduit and through into the drivers footwell (there was no way I could get them from the engine bay directly into the passenger footwell). From the drivers footwell I followed the same route as my Tmax controller wires ( http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic128464.html ) all the way up to the top glovebox. I like things hidden so I mounted the switch inside the glovebox, it will be left on 99% of the time so no need for it being easily accessible.

With the vent/cup holder going back in, perfect fit!

The light on the switch is annoying me so I've ordered a new one without a light on! I'm sure disconnecting the switch negative would stop it but i'll just change it for the sake of £2! The switch negative was connected to existing ones in the passenger footwell

The constant 12v supply going to my switch (or straight to the drl controller box if not using a switch) was connected in the engine fuse box with a 10amp inline fuse

I then put some split conduit on the exposed cables to finish the job

Good write up.
I'm considering putting a switch on mine as well.
Have you set up yours to dim with headlights on?

I didn't fit mine very quick, took me forever to strip it then minutes to pull the cable through! Getting called to work on my week off doesn't help either

It won't be often I turn the switch off but i'll sleep happier knowing it's there if I want it!
No I didn't want them on with the headlight's, thought it might give the old bill a reason to try and pull me! I didn't wire the blinking or cornering lamps either, I wanted it for DRL only

Nice write up just a quick point that any connections you make to a permanent live will cause the drl's to flash on and off whilst charging and therefore should have some way of isolating them if you charge your batteries often like me. I just have a couple of insulated spade terminals that I disconnect when charging but switches are good but think if you are using dimming function like I do you will need isolation for charging on both live feeds D4 HSE Lux MY16 Club Waitomo

Seeing as I have a set of these waiting to be fitted, you couldn't have posted at a better time.
Many thanks for posting

Apologies for asking such a stupid question but why is there a switch in the glove box?

Incase I want the engine running without the lights on for any reason. You could just pull the fuse but the switch is slightly easier!
