These are Non-kinetic 24mm 3-strand nylon ropes with Safety Hooks at both ends and a center marker flag. 12 tonne maximum breaking strength. These ropes are the same as LRE use, the safety hooks fit the towing eyes front and back of the Discovery and many other non-LR vehicles without the need for shackles. As for the weight rating - a full laden Disco is around 3-T possibly just over without a trailer - the suction power of mud will take that well over the 3.5 rating of normal 3.5T "tow" ropes Halfords etc sell.
Normally the ropes cost:
5m - £53.15 each + VAT (£63.78 )
10m - £57.11 each + VAT (£68.53)
Mainland UK P&P prices via BigDave confirmed at £16.00 for 1 rope, £20.00 for 2 ropes. Excludes Highlands and Islands as well as overseas, please contact BigDave direct for prices if you want shipping there.
Provided we order a minimum of 10 ropes we get the 2010 prices again, this means...
Closing date for sign up is 12noon on Saturday the 31st October 2015.
No guarantee on getting them before Xmas as these are hand spliced and made to order, so not despatched ex-stock.
As previously to keep it simple for them I've agreed with the suppliers to make this a single order, I'll pay for the whole order and will then collect the ropes and distribute via the D3 Courier network as much as possible or via BigDave if you pay the extra.
Once you sign up, send me a PM titled Rope, please include your full name in the PM to me and if you want to pay for BigDave to Courier the rope to you, then also include your delivery address. I'll reply with detail ways to get the dosh to me. Please respond to it as soon as possible and please remember no matter how you end up sending me the payment, please include both your forum name and full name and address details, it's a real pain the to sort out otherwise and could delay you getting the goods.
If you want a different combination eg 2x 5m ropes, tell me in the initial PM I'll keep note of all orders and details on a spreadsheet.
I'm not making any money on this, neither is the site, so please make a donation to Disco3.co.uk if you part-take in this group buy
If you have registered an interest and subsequently decide you do not wish to go ahead, please remove your name from the list
Please note, this is a Group Buy thread, not a discussion on the virtues of whether or not to buy/use ropes, I am assuming those who choose to sign up have already done their research beforehand.
Edited 28/11/15:
This was my 3rd and final Recovery Rope Group Buy. Anyone wanting a rope or fancying running another Group Buy in the future, contact Alan or Andrea at Lifting & Crane, http://www.liftingandcrane.co.uk.LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Well recommended.
