My vehicle went in again to repair/find the shudder. No luck - shudder still there. They have now gone back to LRA for assistance. Thought they would have done that in the first place. At least I still have the Disco to use.

Waiting, waiting, waiting ......................

Bob,
I saw yours yesterday parked at Rolf, when I finally was able to pick mine up. They were not working on it.
Not sure this lot are realy up to it, their approach seems to be a fiddle with this and that and see if it works, I realy dont think this is good enough, but what is the alternitive for warrenty work ?

When I was going through the suspension problems which turned out to be a minor fix I told my dealer that they really had no idea what they were dealing with, not their fault but a large problem with training

Given D3 a small work out on rough undulateing ground, there is still a very slight feel of nock, just detectable, it seems to come from the lower steering column [assume] I will just monotor it and see what happens. In reality I think this is as good as it will ever get. If they keep replaceing parts soon I will have a whole new front end, maybee that is not such a bad thing.

They reckon that the problem with my vehicle is a 'bug' in the software and therefore will need a complete reload!!!!!!!!

Can not get the vehicle booked in until the new year.

We wait and see again

Bob'
The delays at this dealer are not what service is about, it may yield something to have a polite winge to LR head office . Cant do much harm, and may speed things up.

Steering and wheel alignment

We today was a very interesting day.

I took our HSE in for it's 60,000km service with a knock in the front end?

They now tell me that the front diff is leaking and needs replacement, the front LHS shocker is no good, the 2 ball joints are also shot on the LHS, the steering rack is leaking and will be replaced. they also found a boot on a rear drive shaft that is broken and they want $900 to replace. Warranty will help but what does the costs look like for the future?

Dickie,
Exactly what had to be done to mine, at least they were able to identifie what was needed in one go, they took two weeks bit by bit to do mine, they had replaced the steering rack some three months ago, then the lower steering colomn a fiew weeks later, after that still no good then came ball joints, assorted bushes, at this time they replaced seals in front diff and a rear cv joint boot, all under warrenty. So dont let them charge you for the boot.
As to the costs for the future Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry who knows, one thing LR wont be doing the work, I will do things I can do and a non franchised workshop the stuff beyond me. At the moment I plan to keep the car if all goes reasonably well.

Makes me wonder how long i can keep mine after warranty has run out.
Are LR replacing the faulty parts with improved parts
or should we expect the parts to fail again in the future Shocked
I think my long term love affair with LR is oveeeeerr

There was a faulty batch of parts used on early build cars, certinaly the MY05 s and before, as I understand it the faulty parts have mostly been cleared away, so hopefully if warrenty work to replace these parts was caried out properly we may have a reasonable run in the future. It will be a shame if the D3 does not meet our expectations down the line, I am hepefull it will but if not it will go and a project vechle will be borne out of a Defender, Pootrole or Tojo, but defenitly no computors, mayby some engine management, Twisted Evil

Front End Knock

Well we drop our vehicle into the dealer tomorrow to get repaired Thumbs Up .
Ours is a 2005 manufacture.
We are getting new front shockers, 2 LHS ball joints, new diff, new steering rack and drive shaft as the boot that covers the CV joint only comes as a shaft.
Should be the end of the week before we find out if this fixes the knock.
I hope that the 2005 is the problem as the cost to fix out of warranty would kill the love affair.
