Is there a link to a 'how to replace the Turbo'

Hi All

Despite my best search efforts and mention of a 'how to' by Gecko I can't find a 'how to replace the turbo without taking the body off' guide?

Could anyone be kind enough to point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Scotland 2016 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 SE Tech Auto Corris GreyDiscovery 4

Crying or Very sad I did it a few years ago, got to be one of the worst jobs on a disco, access is terrible but basically remove F/N/S wheel, remove alu heat shields, (I also removed the upper wishbone to help with access) working underneath, temp remove cross member (support gearbox) then turbo downpipe to CAT section (I refitted cross member until ready to replace exhaust) Removal of turbo 'stud' nuts is a nightmare, bend an old spanner at 90*deg to help, everything else is done by 'touch & feel' as little can be seen. There are a couple of smaller heat shields which need to be removed to access securing bolts and obviously the oil feed and return pipes.
*In order to get the turbo out the 3 studs have to be cut as there just isn't the room to get it out*

This is all from memory though but I'm sure I read a post from a member who had drilled the studs then used bolts on assembly? Confused

On reassembly make sure the turbo is primed with fresh oil, there is no turbo to manifold gasket either.

Hope this helps but its a bitch of a job purely down to the access and I had the use of a 2 poster! Big Cry
