So those of us that don't need to pay VAT (I live in Australia) but would expect extra postage costs, do we have a cost or is the 365 going to cover it to the land down under.

The IID Controller allows the use of a Bluetooth Smart enabled IIDTool or EASControl through an Android Powered device. The application requires Android 4.3+ and a Bluetooth Smart Ready smartphone.
It looks like that left that factory with OS
Android , 4.1.2 so you will need to upgrade firmware.
It needs to support BT low energy too (BLE) - the Samsung S4 phone does, but the original Nexus 5 doesn't. Mark.

Like Pete said, Samsung Note 3 or 8, if running on OS 4.3 and up will do.
For anyone wanting to confirm if an Android device will work, find the model number of the Android device (usually on the back of the unit), do a search on the manufacturer website for specifications (don't trust Wikipedia or others). If the following criteria are met, you're in the clear:
-Fitted with a Bluetooth V4.x transceiver (which is Bluetooth Smart ready)
-Running on OS 4.3 and uphttp://www.gap-diagnostic.com/

As I understand it (and I could be wrong) there are quite a few models of this tool. I, for example will need the DA6416 whereas other people may require different part numbers.

Correct, but all IIDTool BT share the same firmware base therefore a DA6410 will work on any supported vehicles:
