Off road height suspension over-ride |
|
Does anybody know if there is an over-ride / patch to stop the off road height suspension from dropping at 40kmh? My car goes in for a service next week before I leave for Botswana, and I would like the default speed to be raised to say 70 or 80 kmh.

I'm hoping that Turbo Chip might be able to do something. Elton , the local TC agent, has requested that they look into it

If you are going to Mabuasehube in Bots then I realy hope you get a solution before you leave and please keep us posted if you do. This is the one thing about the Disco 3 that can really spoil the safari escpecially in the Kalahari where you need good ground clearance at a fair speed. Visited the south-western kalahari in Botswana during February this year with the Defender 130 and with the long stretches of sand road we averaged at about 60-70kph.

Isn't potential litigation a wonderful thing
Why cannot manufacturers rely on clear warnings to their customers instead of nannying them with super safe systems that effectively hobble certain features and abilities ?

Landrover Australia told me it wasn't possible, when I asked about a year ago. Don't know if anything's changed since then?

LR will always say they can't do something like that.
But - it would be one of the best mod's available - I don't want all the other options that the Matzker kit provides - I just want the ability to lock it into off-road height at speeds of up to 80 or 100km/h - not at 150km!
There has to be a way...

Is one of the reasons for not locking in off-road height that there will be excess wear and strain on the drivetrain due to the more extreme angles of operation of the cv joints etc and at higher speeds I guess it could be damaging? Aside from the obvious stability issue.
However i totally agree that being able to manually envoke extended mode would have its uses, my D3 grounded a couple of times in the peaks last week and the terrain was not that extreme. A couple of inches extra would always be useful 2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

Correct
It's a real ball to drive along at 40 km/h when even my defender can do the same roads at 80 -90 km/h quite safely

My one real compliant with the air suspension. At times you just need the extra clearance at speeds up to 80kph. I notice a large number of lifted Cruisers and Patrols and they can drive at any speed. I don't know of any stats showing higher roller overs for these vehicles. 06 TDV6 SE with many LR and after-market extras. Used only on weekends and trips out west.
