put a bit of copper slip on and you can use your fingers.

To get them to pull upwards without bursting a vessel, spray some wd40 down them, I used some cord to pull them up, then when the light unit is off pull the sliders out completely and do like suggested, copperslip or grease on them before putting them back. Wink

I place the flat blade of a large-ish screwdriver under the tab (at 90 degrees sideways) and pull upwards using two hands down near the blade whilst keeping a thumb on the top of tab - you can stuff a thin piece of wood under it to gently lever against too
