Any options you have gone for? - I should consider?
It's tempting to treat the chassis to a little Waxoyl from new but, at 30,000 miles a year, it's likely I might wear it out long before it rusts!
Options are easy - all I needed to add were Privacy Glass and a Fridge. At some point it'll get a tow bar and the side rubbing strips would make a huge amount of sense for protection against car park door dings on those huge, flat, doors that are likely to show up every indiscretion! It even now comes with a proper spare as standard - so that's one less thing to buy 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Perhaps that's the reason why model 16 is early June with special final run of limited editions next year ?

The guy from Ripon Landrover at the spring adventure said he was expecting the new disco to be released in 2017 or even into 2018 for deliveries. He said something about it coinciding with the new defender since the new discovery is not expected to have a commercial model.
Might be a loaf of guff mind, but this is what he said when I told him I was trying to decide to change now or wait for the D5. He said that they found that customers who had a good D4 were tending to hang on to them rather than trade them in.
Made me think twice about changing. There's nothing else I'd rather drive but I would love to have an updated version. Bri

Whatever happens we all want to be out of diesels by then ..they are going to get clobbered ...even Euro6 is looking under threat with the current momentum.
...petrol hybrid for me next even if it means moving from a Disco 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Makes you wonder. I certainly wouldn't like to buy a new Euro 5 diesel now, but there is very little rational reason to clobber Euro 6 diesels. Though being rational isn't something known to bother either the press of local authorities looking for additional tax revenue, using an ill founded "green" justification 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Euro 6 is already getting bad press for not working in real world conditions. This is part of a Forbes article referring to last weekends Sunday Times http://www.forbes.com/sites/neilwinton/201...ers-big/2/
Quote:
Britain’s Sunday Times, in an article headlined “The great diesel car deception speeding us to a toxic deathâ€, demanded tough action to force manufacturers to clean up diesels. This might be difficult because the Sunday Times said some vehicles, certified as Euro 6 compliant, failed the test completely, while others didn’t. Under acceleration many vehicles exceeded the base standard of 0.08 grammes of NOx per kilometre (0.128 per mile). The Sunday Times cited a report by Emissions Analytics which said various diesels from Vauxhall-Opel, Citroen, BMW and Mazda failed the test, while a Mercedes-Benz C220 and a VW Golf 2-liter passed it easily. Experts say the regulations work if the engine is engineered to high standards. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Interesting, though this article does make some suspect assumptions:
1. That Emissions Analytics data is any more reliable than the official test procedure.
2. That the inability to meet independent test criteria is any less reliable in diesels than it is in other types of motors.
For instance, I had the use of 2 Hybrid Vauxhall Ampera's over a total of 2 weeks and around 1,500 miles. These are cars where drive is electrical 100% of the time, with the petrol engine recharging the batteries where necessary. They were great to drive and I enjoyed my time with them, but the fuel economy figures were way off. The official figures were suggesting something like 80 mpg without recharging batteries from the mains but, with economical driving, it was returning around 42 mpg. I think it's fair to assume that the quoted CO2 figure of 27g/km (along with the relevant NOx figures) were equally far of the mark.
If diesels are demonised for falling short, then let's have a look at how all the others perform as well.
The danger may be that articles like this may shed little light, but they will swing public opinion and it's something that policy makers may use to our detriment.
As an aside, people removing Cats & DPF's and disabling EGR's will only make things worse for all of us, as not only do we have to breath the stuff, but overall emissions figures drive this kind of policy. 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Dannyson,
Sent you a PM. If you've got sticker shock from a new HSE, my 12 month old 6000 miler (black with privacy; pristine, but she needs to go) may ease the pain. As I said in my initial post on this, if it doesn't go here, some stealer will take it and then - Heaven forfend - rip off a new potential member down the line.
HTH.
