My sister-in-law has been involved in a fairly major accident in her freelander caused by an idiot overtaking 3 cars while she turned right! He's taken all the blame and my S-i-l and her 2 year old daughter walked away unscathed, might have been a different story in a smaller car. Looks like it will be a right off as both front and rear seats are twisted
So anyway she had been giver a MY15 disco by the insurance and has had to get a new car seat, the Pearl and family fix base fitted the freelander well but in the disco there is a 3" gap behind the back of the seat. Has anyone got this combo and can give any advise if this is normal or how they've overcome it? I've got a Britax car seat which needs a top teather to sort this but these aren't mentioned for the Maxi Cosi.
Thanks

I use maxi cost and don't have an issue at all, my ISO is the later 2way fix, but my sister in law has the earlier ISO fix base and she has no issue either ?!

Ditto - I use a Maxi Cosi base and it fits fine in my Disco (as, indeed, it did in my Freelie 2).
I think she is just worried it wasn't snug against the back of the seat and it moving about. After what she's been through she wants it to be as safe as possible which is why she rejected the first family 'car' which was offered to her.
Does yours look similar to the above? She lives a good 30 mins away so haven't had time to pop round and have a look yet
Thanks for you replies

We have 2 Family-fix & Pearl combo's in the D3 for our twins. We extend the front leg until the back of the Pearl seat is just off the back of the D3 seat. This keeps the seat pretty-firm in all directions

Yep, that's it.
There's a bit of a technique to getting it fixed properly the first time, but once fixed it is very secure - and feels it. You just push the base back and the ratchets on the yellow arms take up to hold it firmly against the seat back.

Is it the same seat that was involved in the accident? I'd want to get it replaced ASAP as it may have damage which isn't visible. If it is the same seat it's already paid for it self in protecting the little one.
Hope they're both okay.

sorry Skep just noticed "has had to get a new car seat"
Thanks for everyone's replies, I think she has sorted it so she is happy, her other half is on his was back from Mozambique where he works, and am sure will check its right. I guess the 3rd party's insurance are covering everything the new car seat and base, new car when they get it and until then the Disco @£1000 per Week!!!! +any medical claims that they may have. They are just thankful to be just bruised!
