Swapped out the rusty side steps.
A productive weekend....
Changed the side lights and the rear number plates bulbs for LED's and changed the headlights for the 400k Units, all from Advanced factors.
Biggest job was swapping out the very rusty side steps.
Bought a set from e-bay, £103 delivered,
watched the Youtube videos as I expected to be changing the brackets......how surprised was I when the new steps fitted nearly perfectly on to the original LR brackets.
Bit of a job removing the original nuts as they all but two snapped clean of in the socket, the hardest bit was removing them from the end of the socket.
All done with no dramas and the wife is happy now as she did not feel safe stepping on the spongy side steps !
Regards
Leigh

I remember talking to myself saying, " What are the chances of these fitting straight on "

Hi, could you tell me where you got the Aftermarket side steps that fitted directly on to the OEM brackets? Need to replace mine as they aren’t safe to stand on but seems like it would be much easier to leave the brackets on and just replace the steps.
Thanks in advance!

You need to check the condition of your sills under the plastic, if the steps are rusty you can garantee the sills will be bad

Yep. I did that. Didn't require it so started to reassemble and thought stupid not to. Rear brackets had to be drilled and reworked with a tap to clear the threads.

Thanks all, will make sure to check the sills while I’m doing it. Does anyone know what brand of aftermarket steps would be the best fit onto the original brackets? I’m Concerned that the brackets could be a pain to remove if all the bolts are rusted so would rather use the existing brackets as they are very solid, just the steps that are rusted.
Thanks!

The old side steps I removed were far too gone for any of the bolts on the steps themselves to be undone so I just angle ground through the brackets sufficient to get the plastic cover off.
Even though the steps were in a very bad way the bolts on the brackets to the chassis were fine.
Must say I've been impressed with the Aldi 40V angle grinder...don't know how I managed for so long without it!Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Just about to get stuck into this project but am going to replace the side steps with TerraFirma bars instead, as I can't get on with the side steps at all. Maybe at 6'4" I'm too tall. Plus I think the bars will be more inline with how I use the vehicle. (I just need RimmerBros to respond to my requerts to pay them lots of money, including a GPB150 shipping fee )PAGODA
