Disco Love
I’ll co fess from the off, this thread is about nothing other than my love and admiration for my 2006 D3 TDV6 S. If you don’t have anything nice to say about her, then say nothing at all. Thank you.
I’ve only had my Disco for a couple of months and hadn’t been on a proper adventure with until the weekend just gone. On Saturday I drove North from Brandon, Suffolk to Killin, Central Scotland, then drove home Sunday stopping off at Tarn Hows in the Lake District before continuing home.
It’s a 950m round trip.
I drove on my own, stopping only to fuel up, empty my bladder and eat at Scotch Corner. The Disco was flawless, never skipped a beat. Having made this journey several times in other cars, I’m normally a wreck at the end. Feeling like I’ve a broken back and my legs shot to pieces. Not this time though! It was such a pleasant drive, I was Confident in the car, comfortable and relaxed. I finally have a vehicle that pulled me up the mountain roads without overheating or slowing down.
To top it off, it became a hotel when I arrived at Loch Tay. With the seats down, there was space for my stuff and a double air bed.
I had a smile on my face every time I got behind the wheel and I’m sure some of you are the same with yours.
I was so happy with her that I felt she deserved some recognition for her companionship!
Have any of you ever had an adventure with your Discos that made you think they were the best thing since sliced bread? And what was it?

Great that you experienced just some of the versatility of this vehicle.
The "smile on your face" you talk about is known amongst us forum oldies as the "permagrin"
To this day, fifteen years on, I'm still enthralled at the joy the D3/D4 brings.
Wouldn't want to be driving any other motor!

Agree with Ron... I've got a new Disco from work with all the bells and whistles but the honesty and individual character of the D3 is what puts a smile on my face and means I'll never part with it. It was, and remains, a very special car.2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7

I’ve had a few cars and have always loved Audi. I’ve had an A3, A4 and A6, all where great cars but none of them made me smile as much as my D3

I get offered a lot of demo cars to drive at work, apart from the occasional Range Rover SVR or Tesla i turn them all down in favour of my D3. Its not the fastest but its comfortable and safe.

Nice D3! I have to agree they're fantastic for driving long distances. I'm a BMW man at heart for my fun cars but for wafting about in smooth, supple comfort I'm very happy to have my disco
