It's not the bracket and cable. I can hear the squeak pitch change every with wheel rotation so will take a look in the drum at the weekend. More practice in adjusting the shoes 😟

It may be the pins have corroded through which means the shoes are not fully secure in the drum. It caused my squeak but only heard it when turning left handlers and the next 50 yards or so.

Steve
Thumbs Up

Could be a stone or dirt trapped between the disc and plate thatll give you a high pitch squeal

All sorted. I stripped the rear offside brake down and discovered one of the shoe's retaining clips had distorted when I fitted it. Instead of the shoes sitting flat against the back plate it was slightly away. I had some spare clips which I fitted and the shoes seated properly.

No more squeak Thumbs Up

Just need to bed in the shoes when less traffic about.

Chaps I think I may be having the same issue. I pulled out from a shingle covered car park last night and at very slow speed felt something under the car, like a stone possibly. I applied the EPB on and off again, and I may have imagined it but it felt like the offside was not holding as well as usual and when pulling away I could hear a low noise squeak, that went away when at speed. I drove about 10 miles and then checked the brake discs, and both the rears seemed noticeably hotter than the fronts. It wasn't a heavy braking type journey. I'll monitor it, but does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Mike

My wheels did not get any warmer on the side where I had the squeak. I suspect the drag was so little it was just creating a noise. Looking back I realised why Steve at Advanced Factors who supplied the parts puts a Land Rover hold down kit in the Upgrade Kit. Those LR clips are stronger and less likely to deform during fitting. Thumbs Up Steve
