discovery 3 rear grinding noise |
|
hi all
after selling my greenlaner td5 es, i finally got myself an 05 v8 hse at 136k miles which i am very happy with. it has little dent on the bonnet & passenger door hence paid a very low price against what was available on the internet (there are only 3-4 which are on sale now) it obv came wth some small issues and i hope to spend the funds for the maintenance
after 20 - 30 miles of picking her up, i started hearing some grinding noise coming from the rear left wheel, initially i thought it was the wheel bearing but lifted the tyre this morning to check if there is any play in it, none. noise comes all the time up to 20-30 miles an hr and will not go away when i apply the brake so assume it is not caliper, pad or disk related.
i was going through the last mot remarks and noticed below;
-nearside rear anti-roll bar has slight play in a ball joint
-nearside rear tyre worn close to the legal limit
could anyone relate above remarks to the noise that i am hearing??

Could be the park brake on the NSR.
The disks tend to collect some dirt/dust etc and can do with a periodic clean anyway.
Using Bodsy's brake bible to adjust the brakes is good preventative maintenance. Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

i will give it a try soon, heard some has had issues relating to rear diff, but if it was dff, noise wouldnt be coming from "left only" i believe...

i just remember seeing for a second or two, "parking brake applied" or "parking brake error" or smth similar flashing on the screen (still not very familiar to fault codes on the D3)
as you hae suggested, will take a look at the bodsys brake write up

noise was coming from NSR park brake, springs etc were broken, had them replaced recently, no more noise.
