You will most likely not get stopped by a cop, unless he's having a really bad day.

However, if you ever have an accident, your insurance company might have something to say about it, especially if someone gets injured by the bumper. Considering some of them see tyres that are 2 inches over stock as a serious safety issue, I can see them having a good day with a monster steel bumper.

How many times do you see defenders or pickups carrying people in the rear tub without a seat? I've seen it hundreds of times down here, and I've done it a few times too and passed by cops without issue. However, if I ever crashed with someone back there I would be neck deep in that big brown stuff that comes out our rear end.... Mr. Green

Fitting the bumper is your choice. Nobody will stop you and feel free to do it. It does look really great. The fact that many people fitted it does not make it fully legal, it just means many people are risking being on the wrong end of their insurance company Thumbs Up

I know it'll push up my payments, but surely declaring it to my insurance company would bypass any issues with payouts should I have an accident?

On ordering I too had the problem but I was away for 6 months having a tan Thumbs Up

The bumper has been fitted and approved in Germany and complies with their Tüv testing so I can't see any issues with legality as that can be stricter than a UK Mot.

Insurance, well I had a few spare quid after my 6 months and added the above front bumper, prospeed rock/tree sliders, kaymar rear bumper, RI duallys,RI 10in light bar and painted rims wrapping them in GG At's oh and the warrior winch..... All written on a form along with previous mods (long range tank etc) and this made no change as they are not performance mods etc.

It is one impressive bit of kit that to me makes the disco look awesome.
 So far Fiona has:
TRC front winch bumper / GG AT tyres
Warrior 9500s winch / Aux Fuel tank
Mantec sump guard / Kaymar rear bumper w/swing away
RI D2 light pair / de-cat exhaust
RI 10in flood/spot bar / LR puddle lights
Optima yellow top / Prospeed tree/rock sliders
Spilt charge system / Light guards

There you go, someone with first hand experience. So you should be fine (at least in the UK... seems to differ by country) Thumbs Up

Hi there. I will declare my profession now. I am a traffic inspector in the police. I drive a modified d3 as my every day car with all the mods declared to the insurance company. I would love one of these...and it would be perfectly legal. There do not appear to be any sharp edges on it that would mean a ticket would be issued. Having dealt with
Too many crashes generally the majority of the injury with this type of vehicle is where the head hits the bonnet. I will agree there may be a couple of extra broken bones..... but still all perfectly legal.

Cheers
Upgrades so far - , rear ladder from prospeed , front and rear light guards G4 style roof rack and 4 lightforce spots on the rack! Xenon lights

Well, apparently I will get the tracking information for the bumper on Tuesday... it's his last chance, if I don't receive the email on or before the 16th then I'll be starting the process to claim my money back...
The whole experience has been a bit of a shame, as I was very interested in ordering the rear bumper and wheel carrier the guy makes as well, but don't know if it's worth the hassle now Confused

Cheers Perdi's dad, nice to have all the hearsay and posturing cleared up Mr. Green Though I have been thinking about installing six inch steel spikes to my bonnet.... what's the legality on that? Wink I could put tennis balls on them to make them safer Mr. Green

Not quite the tracking information I was after, but have been given a delivery date of the 26th... apparently "I send the tracking later. When I have sent him instructions. "
not quite sure who him is, or how there can be a delivery date without the 'courier' having 'instructions'... needless to say I've talked to my bank about the legal procedures to get my money back just in case.
I would not recommend any one to have any dealings with Raul who makes the TRC bumpers for discovery 3s... wish I'd heard some of the horror stories about him before I ordered from him.

DcNexus, how was your experience with Raul? did it arrive on time? what was the condition of the bumper like when you received it? did you get it straight from him or via the discoveryparts website?

I can say the same thing - stay away from Raul from TRC.
The bumper is cheap and when you get it, you know why. It just LOOKS good. But I wouldn't like to winch with it, or hit anything with it, in the shape it comes as original.
Had to spend almost the same amount of money to improve it and makes it useful.

NOT recommended. Evil or Very Mad

The saga continues.... I asked for a tracking number for the now supposedly sent bumper and he got very short with me... was not happy so have sent a rather snotty Email back explaining how this whole experience has been less than positive and that I will not be recommending him to any one who asks about my bumper... when/if it arrives.

"his bumper and went, going on TNT and comes the day 26. I'm looking for the tracking and control it. ok? "

None of the hellos, or regards from previous emails.... and if it's already sent, why does he need to 'look for the tracking'?

This man is beginning to make me very upset... no Christmas card for him!

This guy is a pain..
I just had a quick view on my history with him.
Started to talk to him January, 25th, 2013. He got the payment February, 11th.

April, 4th I got message: "Simon I apologize, I was away traveling and hard work. Your bumper is being made, do not worry. In a week I hope to be sent to its destination. There is nothing to worry"

And there was silence again. In May asked my friend from Spain to call him and introduce herself as my lawyer.

May, 9th I got a message: "thanks for your patience and apologize"

A month later I still didn't get anything, although pictures of the bumpers that were being made were sent to me. My friend was calling him almost everyday.

The package finally came June, 19th. So 5 months after receiving the payment by Raul.

I wouldn't recommend him either. Moreover - I would tell everyone NOT TO do business with him Evil or Very Mad

All this is very bad news.
However, give the guy a chance.
Why don't you give him an open invitation to reply to concerns in this forum.
Would be very interesting to hear how the man defends himself ....
