The previous owner of the sidesteps seems to have a large selection of hammers above the workbench .......Is that how he / she fixes things ?

I have been on Ebay AGAIN, and saw these
They are £20 delivered. I will be ordering them soon. I am going to wire them up to a DRL unit as well as the reverse lights so I have also got follow me home function with these.
Not got th funds available just at the minute, but will do within a couple of days, so will order them ASAP.

I went and had a bit of off road fun on Sunday. I went to a club open day in Broad Oak and did the 2 TYRO courses they had open, They had other courses available, but I stuck to the courses I knew I wouldn't damage my car on. But the tyres got muddy, I got to meet some great people including another D3 owner who only went on the courses after he saw did lol.

And yes, I treated my Disco to a nice £9 jet wash lol

Wow, this club and it's members are awesome. After Pete@landrover kindly checked for any recall work outstanding on my D3, I re read what he had sent me in a PM which revealed a garage I was NOT aware had been involved in maintaining my car in its past. So a huge thank you for helping fill in some of the gaps, I have now contacted the garage that was revealed on the list and hope to get even more information on the history of the car which will be covering the first few years of its life
I am getting excited now too as I am going to pick up my sidesteps on Friday. And making a day of it in Essex. Can't wait to go.

Haha, another bargain scored on Ebay. After getting some help finding out what size bolts I needed to fit my bargain sidesteps which I won for £10.50 the pair with brackets, I then found out I needed spacers which come in the fitting kits. So doing my normal have a look at all things Discovery 3 set at auction, I came across a set of brand new brackets and a brand new fitting kit as part of a package on a listing, and won them for £32.50 delivered. And although one of the steps is missing the silver strip on the side, I plan on sanding, cleaning and hammeriting the steps asap and fitting them asap. And then I will get the silver bit and fit it later.
Now really excited for my road trip tomorrow.

I have been and collected the side steps, but the passenger one is in far worse condition than I first thought. The studs that are on the underside of the step to secure it to the brackets have nearly all sheared off.
So not sure weather to hunt another used passenger side one down or if there is an option to repair what I have.

Bit of a scary drive home today. I ran out of screen wash on the way to the Cinema, so made a mental note of this and stopped at Halfords for the BOGOF deal on concentrate and then Asda for cheapest bi bottles of water. Forgot to put it in until after I had been to the cinema. Closed the bonnet and both sides latched fine. OR SO I THOUGHT. I tried to lift the bonnet and it wouldn't budge. Well I got onto the A21, made a pit stop got back on the A21 where a silver Freelander 2 decided it was going to TRY and out accelerate me. TRY being the optimum word lol, and half through this little bit of fun the left hand side of my bonnet popped up So I pulled into BP on the A21 and found that the latch mechanisms were totally clogged with crap. So found my trusty screw driver and dug it all out. And hey presto, it latches first time every time. I opened and closed the bonnet about 15 times before I was satisfied. I think the people in the Fiat behind my car must have though I was insane lmao. While I made my 1st pit stop on the A21 at Tesco's and was waiting for my other half to come out of the shop I took some random pictures too lol

The sidestep I am going to rescue.
I have already bought a tin of smooth black hammerite which both sidesteps will be treated to and plan on fully restoring both steps so that they last a long time.
This Discovery is really beginning to feel 100% like it is mine with all the upgrades it has been getting.

I really am awful for ending up with more projects!
A friend of mine has given me his old trailer tent, which unfortunately was a little more worse for wear than planned from the description he gave me lol. However I love it and will now be spending up to 2 days a week at my parents property as the trailer tent needs to be renovated pretty fast.
It is a 1980's (85-89) Conway Camargue. The main cover for when it is folded up has unfortunately split allowing water ingress, but apparently not much at all, just stained the tent a bit, but also found the tyres seem to be perished although hold air fine. The units own lights weren't working, and it is very dirty as well as dodgy brakes lol.
So first port of call will be to erect the tent in my parents front garden. Only thing that is concerning me though is the fact that the trailer does not sit level with the Discovery when it is hitched up.
So trying to work out best solution to correct this. I don't want a fixed tow bar in place though.
The Discovery has now developed a loud clonk on the front end when I turn the wheels at stand still or very slow movement and the knocking noise on the rear has gotten louder although wasn't there at all while I was towing. And I have to say I was very impressed with the 34.2 mpg figure I was getting while towing.

lmao, I was waiting for someone to mention that. I realised after I had parked what I had parked on. I wondered why I got a few funny looks from other people coming into the car park. I wonder if they really thought that was me lol.

Woohoo, Brand new fitting kit and brackets for the sidesteps have arrived. Unfortunately I have not had the time to get on with sorting the steps out though. And tomorrows plan was to sort them out, but bad weather is forecasted.

Wow, shocked that all the Land Rover specialists with 35 miles of me have 3 week back logs!
Brakes suddenly working perfectly with noises, so not sure what to think on that one, however I have now got the Disco booked in with Bramble for 3 weeks time for a full inspection so they can give me a list of what is wrong followed by quotes for certain items.
They tried to tell me that D3's are the worst Land Rovers and that I should chop mine in for a D4, I wasn't having any of it lol.
But will be interested in seeing what Bramble pick up on. I know some of the faults already and having mechanical experience from my past, this will prove to be an interesting test with the company.
If they do a good job, then I will go back. But I know this much. I am going to try and start working on my own cars again. Try being the optimum word. Hope I can at least do some work.
And from Wednesday, I will be starting to work on the sidesteps. I have also got the brackets to modify to fit to the head light guards.
And my neighbour has keyed my Disco now on the drivers rear quarter panel putting vertical scratches on it. Fingers crossed that the police CCTV camera that has been facing it all weekend has caught the person in the act. I am being careful about my words. You can imagine the swear words lol.
