I don't know specifically about using the USB version of the Tune2air. I went the ipod route only because a) when I tried to connect my iphone 6 directly into the USB I got an error message and b) it was recommended here.
I've only had the car for a week so everything is new to me!

I received the following from the manufacturer:
Quote:dear customer,
you can control the A2DP-tracks with next/previous track.
this unit will only fit, if your usb-port will fit with apple devices connected via USB. (MFI certified)
So, I ordered the WMA1000 instead...

Just search for WMA1000 on eBay; eBay also provide global shipping including customs clearance and payment of applicable VAT.
Does it work? I don't know; I will not get it before early October but I'll keep you posted

The only source seems to be 2nd hand and on eBay.
I'm not sure what is different about the Tune2air adaptor compared to other bluetooth adaptors, but I also tried another very similar one (LAYEN i-SYNC) in the car. I use the Layen on a stereo at home with a docking station, and on that it works perfectly. Doesn't work in the Discovery though.

I have mine and the good things are:
1. eBay global delivery was flawless
2. I can stream Spotify from my phone to the WMA1000 and then on to the car stereo
3. the sound is good (equal or better than directly from iPod)
4. Changing track from the car stereo is not very user friendly and I use playlists on Spotify
5. skipping trakcs from the wheel controls ("rewind" - yes, I'm that old - or forward) works only occasionally...

Hmmm, OK it still sounds like a good purchase, I bought one a couple of weeks ago and am still waiting for it to arrive from the US.

Mine seems to only work if Spotify is open on your iphone before you start your car up.
Otherwise it seems to default to controlling only the Apple music app.

I just gave it a whirl, great bit of kit! Really pleased with it, love the fact that it automatically connects and starts playing when you get back in the car, brill!
This has hugely enhanced the D4 experience for me, it was the one thing I found really annoying, having to have a lead trailing from the rear and having to plug in/out every time I got in/out of the car, it felt ridiculous in such a high end car, so for the sake of £100 this is well worth the money, thanks all for the tip.
