Thank you Bodsy
I was thinking about maybe driving a small flat head screwdriver in through the centre of the badge at an angle but your screw suggestion sounds easier

Maybe I had a difficult one then - I'd have loved to be able to do that. I had to scrape it out with a knife and peel it off bit by bit. Did the steering column help?
Have you hade a chance to test Vinny on rought stuff yet to test the new steering column?
I have that little play and rumble on rough gravel roads. Have new lower wishbones in front so it can't be those bushings. Would be interesting to hear if your new column helped

Blinky, I can confirm that for me it has cured my knocking and rattling steering wheel. No more notchy feeling when going over bumps either

Eventually got my new badges fitted this weekend. I was expecting a fight to remove the rear badge but it came off surprisingly easy!

Also placed an order Friday afternoon with Tayna for a new battery and opted for Saturday delivery, I received the battery about 11am and decided to put it on charge before fitting today. I also used the D2BOYS discount code as I spotted in DSL's thread

Nice feeling knowing you have a brand new battery

Wish I had that reassuring new battery feeling too, mines on charge now after leaving my cheapo bluetooth obd reader plugged in last night

Yeah no sweat, would one night this week be good for you to drive mine or would you rather some daylight on the weekend?!
It's nice having a new battery but still a bit worried I have a drain going on, we shall see in a few days time!! You could of at least left your obd plugged in last night so you got a day off work today, instead of a flat battery on a play day!!

Today I managed to get my hands on one of these bad boys

Bought a few bits in preparation for cleaning and adjusting my EPB

So with a few hours spare this afternoon I decided I'd make a start, armed with my iPad loaded with Bodsy's Brake Bible I set to work!

The hex socket I bought wouldn't fit through the hole
I only had enough light to get one side done so I will hopefully be able to grab a few more hours tomorrow afternoon to do the other side. I didn't remove the EPB pads to clean so I didn't grease the areas that touch at the back, would it be worth me removing the pads on the next side to clean and grease?

I used a steel ruler dipped in copper slip and slid it behind the contact points by levering the shoes slightly away with a screwdriver
Got a hex bit that fits if you need to borrow it

Nice idea, I'd rather leave them in place than strip them down only to grease them up, so i'll do the same!
I have got another adapter for hex bits which did the job ok, wasn't ideal but got it done!
Thanks for the offer though

I dislike stickers on my vehicles but I felt I needed to show my forum support, however, I wasn't so keen on the original stickers position or how it was a bit in your face! So I ordered a different colour and repositioned it.........much happier now 8)

Just been reading through this thread at work (shhhh!) and earlier (Jan) Armalite mentioned that his FBH had suddenly started smoking badly. There was another thread a wee while ago mentioning that the fuel feed pipe into the FBH can stiffen and crack, dripping diesel onto the hot exhaust... worth checking the cheaper pipe before replacing the expensive FBH Dave

Engine Oil
Iceman what engine oil do you use as discussed before My D3 has done 230k miles and I did an oil change with the recommended Castrol Magnatex but wonder if I should be looking at something different to take account of the high mileage?

Naughty........I won't tell on you though!!! I did look at the thread regarding this pipe and ever since then i've been meaning to check it.........but never have!! My FBH still works so i'll probably leave it as the very last job to do, unless it stops working of course! But I will get around to checking the hose to it
